I'll be getting larger tires soon, so want to prevent rub on the actual body of the truck. I have a 14" wide wheel (-76 offset) and the tires will be 15.5" wide. Currently at 11" of total lift. I'm speculating that I may run into this problem if I don't address first.

Has anyone "rolled"(?) this piece before? I'm looking to get an extra 1-1.5" of clearance if possible. I'm sure some offroad/trail guys have done something similar.

The picture shows the part I'm talking about circled in red.

Let me know if you have any recommendations, TIA!

well ive always liked the look, but I feel like it be way to much of a hassle to get them painted and all that. my buddy did a front end conversion on his 07 and it looks like a Baja style 3rd gen. but just seems like it may be more pain

You’ll probably need a body shop to trim and fold that or go to glass fenders like Joon said. I don’t think there’s a good way to DIY a roll that deep there. What you may also run into is the firewall. If you think you have to remove that much fender, the firewall isn’t far behind. Have you already chopped the body mount? We whacked the piss out of ours and flattened the pinch welds to squeeze 37s under a 2” lift.

Also, glass would look fuckin killer on your truck. Here’s my wife’s.

I just had to trim my back part you you circled, trimmed off the plastic and pushed the pinch weld back with a hammer.gained that 3/4 inch I needed, sounds like you might need more trimming rolling then I did though

It's called the 'pinch weld mod' and it's been popular with the early 4Runner crowd forever. Don't cut it cause it's holding two panels together. It's as simple a mod as it gets. Get your BFH and pound it flat. Done.

I just took these pics.. this is full crank, and the BMC will be done before new tires. Obviously the 37s have had better days, that’s why they’re being replaced lol but I’ll see if I can think of something.. I don’t want any paint damage, so cutting might be a no-go

I think your issue will be more with the body mount... but given your particular geometry that's an easy fix for you looks like

yea that one corner looks like is where it will most likely need to be chopped ...but I think you just be close on the actual fender

It got trimmed too. ;) but it still matches the lines, so you can’t really tell.

I was gonna ask if that was his from when he had the white methods.

Just front glass. Our rear doesn’t need it.

I’m a little confused on the difference in tire size from old to new. Up above you said “ Ihave a 14" wide wheel (-76 offset) and the tires will be 15.5" wide.”

What size tire are we looking at in the picture where you show how close it is? Are you using the same rims?

So currently, my set up is an 8” readylift with a 3” body lift.. 11” total lift.. I have 22x14 wheels wrapped in 37x13.5s.. I will be going at least to a 38x15.5 tire, but hoping to stuff 40x15.5s if at all possible lol

That is for sure an aggressive size difference. I’m gonna have to phone a friend and tag @Spvrtan here to see how he manages the 40s. I assume the massive difference between you guys’ setups is the widt and offset.

Based on the clearance you showed earlier, I imagine the 38 could probably fit. A 40 is going to be 1.5” taller and 1” wider. A little trigonometry suggests you’re gonna be deep into the firewall at your current alignment and offset.

Try this: turn the wheel to the point where the tire is closest to whatever it’s gonna hit. Measure that distance and see if you can cut it enough to gain a 2” gap from your current tire (trying to account for the missing tread on existing tire).

The SSO looks best to me so far. I think Victory 4x4 is putting a similar solution on their roadmap.

Yeah we’re on 0 offset now with the 37s. It’s actually about a -5 when the beadlocks get factored in. Just have to trim that bumper a little in a line that keeps it looking stockish.

    730696BF-A333-4F92-B72B-926AB2CDE983.jpg

    2B46566E-0830-4AD2-8FC8-CB4C2A6ECD20.jpg

    7A815A9F-42E3-4775-BCFA-3E8D8F63D601.jpg

The only issue now is I trimmed where the bottom of the bumper cap used to connect to the supporting structure and it flops around a touch off road. I just need to drill a new hole through the support and bumper and slap a bolt through it to hold it still. If you look at the tire-side of the bumper below the fog light mount you’ll see where the dot light surround bolts to the bumper cap. That’s what I undid.

Biggest difference is going to be offset. Currently about 60% of the wheel is outside of the wheel well.. I'm thinking its going to be possible, but im gonna have to brainstorm a little on the fender. Appreciate the feed back

Update: 40x15.5 fit!! Slight rub at full crank and in reverse. Couple adjustments and we’ll be clean as a whistle..

BTW: Whatta HUGE difference there is between 40s and 37s
