What Have I Done???

Hello,

I'm dfoxtrot and I have a 2006 4-door SR% with 87,000 miles on it. My TPMS light has been flashing for about a year now and I knew I had at least 2 sensors out. I have never relied on the TPMS system (I check my tires at least monthly) so I decided I simply didn't want to spend the money to replace them. A friend referred me to a site that showed how you could go in and cut a wire on the ECM, ground it and the light would go out. Well, I did that today and the light went out. HOWEVER, now the airbag light comes on and stays on. I went back, reattached the wires I cut and reconnected everything like it was but the airbag light still stays on. I am thinking I bumped something in reaching in such a tight space but for the life of me cannot find anything loose. Does anyone have any idea as to what I may have done?

25 mins I would have had the dash apart and the light bulb out..

For the air bag.. disconnect the battery wait 20 mins. If reconnect and engine start and light still comes on you will need a scan tool to check fault. Air bag modules fry very very easy.

 

Unplug battery. That should do the trick.

Well, unfortunately disconnecting the battery did not do the trick. Guess I am screwed.

Goto a parts store see if there scan tool can do air bag codes.. have them clear code see if it comes back.. if I comes back there is your problem area..

Had the OBD read, code came back, B1660 "Passenger Seat Airbag Active Mode Indicator Malfunction".

 

Bright side: that doesn't sound expensive LOL

 

I figured it out and boy do I feel like a Dumb*&*.

I had not yet reinstalled the A/C control bezel so none of that wiring harness had been reconnected. In pouring over stuff on the interenet, it dawned on me that there was an indicator light on that control bezel. I reconnected that bezel and voila, the TPMS light no longer flashes and the airbag light has gone off. Thanks for all that tried to help me. I have a feeling I'll be hanging around here, seems like some good folks here.
