I've researched this on some other forums but I consider the guys on here the experts. After getting my trucks lifted I measured and noticed that my rear passenger tire sticks out about 5/8" farther than the rear drivers side. Is this normal? I've read other places that it has to do with torque that it wants to pull to the right so their fix was to extend the passenger side a bit more to alleviate this. Also checked other forums for Ford Chevy etc they say theirs are the same. Any help?

What rear setup are you running? I have heard of this happening on tacomas and some said it was the bed that wasn't aligned correctly. They just loosened the bed bolts to re-align. Try checking the gaps between the cab and bed.

Sorry meant to say lift setup, I've read cases where the axle gets misaligned after installing blocks.

I'm the same way, I had to get the alignment shop to adjust the steering wheel on my truck because it was just a tad bit off.

It tracks normal no uneven wear or anything. Not a huge deal just was curious. I have flares on my truck too that may not be exactly the same. I'm probably just overreacting like normal

they are all like that. even stock.

bed can definitely be misaligned (mine was) from factory BUT centering the bed will still show rear axle to not be centered.

the reveal at the cab end vs bumper end caps can be different as well. best to just not look too closely at it. last thing I read about it someone was guessing the misalignment of the axle was probably intentional and related to driveline vibes.

My rear end isn't centered. One tire is closer than the other and the other sticks out further. I never noticed anything else being off under the truck it's like the axle just isn't equal lengths.

Our trucks are a crooked mess. Driver's side lean, bed is off center and the rear axle is shifted to the right. :notsure: Still love my baby.

Mine was off as well, didn't really notice it when I purchased it new but after installing an Icon stage 5 with rear leaf pack I was looking closer and it stood out. I checked my brothers bone stock '14 Platinum and it was off by 1/2", mine was about the same. Crank a hard left and it goes an inch the other direction lol so like what was stated in a previous comment just don't look that close lol. I surmise that if your bed is aligned and you loosen the axle u bolts and rack axle the opposite direction before tightening you could probably get it close but I'm not a fan of forcing things to sit where they don't want to, tried that with my Italian wife and trust me it didn't work out well for me hah.

Hey, its possible one of the wheels has a different offset than the rest. We just lifted a Taco here at the dealership last week and 1 of the 4 wheels was a different flippin offset, not by much but the tech didnt notice it until it was all put together. The back side of the wheel should be stamped with the offset. Its odd but it does happen.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem. Just put bigger tires and noticed it on my 2017 CM 4x4. Passenger rear tire sticks out more than driver rear.
Have toytec 3” in front 1” rear
295/60R20 Ridge grapps and 1.25” spacers.

Ya this is some BS! Didn’t notice it until the other day and then found this thread. I’m ocd af. I’m thinking about getting a wheel with a more aggressive offset for the drivers side (+1 offset instead of a +20) so that my drivers side will stick out as much as my passenger side. Idk. It bothers me idk if I’ll sleep tonight Lol

Just noticed this on my new 2018 TRD Sport. Put some Method 17x8.5 Zero offset 310's on it and it's pretty obvious. Glad to know it's on everyone else's too so it was designed this way. Can't see Toyota doing something like this without good sound engineering reasons. Be cool to know what they were however.

Somebody run a string across the frame rails, drop a plumb bob down from the exact center between the rails and then measure from the center line. That will tell you what is off, bed, flare or diff.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw my rear passenger tire sticking out what seemed a mile further than the other. 35x12.5 I'll have to snap some photos. Glad we're all in the same boat. Just picked up a 2014 Tundra with 82k.

I just purchased a 2020 SR5 4X4 - Mine looks like the two photos posted by CamSouthLaguna. Almost had a stroke when I noticed it. Crawled underneath, all is good and aligned.

Do the broom stick trick. Place a stick against the tires vertically and see the gap in the bed on the right and none on the left.

I noticed my bed was off center of the cab. Loosened all the bed bolts and realigned everything. Also adjusted the bumper. Got everything as close as I could and called it good. I spent a long time with a tape measure. It’s as perfect as I could get it without adjusting the cab as well.

Can’t remember how close I got it but I think I got the bed a little closer to centered over the wheels. Whatever happened.... I’ve blocked it out and moved on hahaa .... so don’t ask what my measurements are. I don’t want to reopen that scar.

2" leveling kit installed up front
It's kinda comforting knowing that other people are having this strange alignment issue. What's interesting is it always seems to be the passenger rear that's sticking out further. I've noticed when I'm driving and I aim both mirrors down a bit so I can see the tire poke everything looks consistent and even. Is it possible that when the rear axle is getting torque during driving that the axle ends up centered? I'm trying to wrap my brain around this because I'm OCD and I notice it all the time. I want to find a solution so I can forget about it.

Axle is not going back to centerline under torque. From what I have seen it’s the 38 gallon tankers that do this. I have seen Tundras without the right wheel sticking out.
