Would like to reopen the tint discussion. Not trying to match the rear window OEM levels, instead am considering no less than 70% on front driver and pax doors. I believe metallic film helps strengthen glass but potentially interferes with GPS and cell coverage. If carbon or ceramic films are comparably priced is the ceramic worth the additional $$? Do either call for special care or treatment?

You’ll need to consider your local/state tint laws concerning what you can legally put on front windows...
I’m planning to have mine done soon as well, so I’ve been researching the same thing you’re asking about. I learned that here in Alabama I can’t do more than 35% on fronts.
I’m curious what others have to say about the ceramic question though. I want something that will provide some UV protection as well as tint, and I think the ceramic would accomplish that better than some other films. Or am I wrong?

Wow I think you are right AL must be more lenient. I am on the fence because I travel 3 states and prefer not to have the hassle so I stay with the higher pct especially to remain on the better side of CHP. I figured 70% high enough to be safe, so with the ceramic that provides better protection level. Been looking at a couple of products out there. You may have seen this already.

I had the front match the rear. It's fine like that for its purpose. Can't really go much darker here in CA.

I can’t decide if I want to keep the back as is so that the f/b match, or go darker on the back.

A little of this and a little of that.
In my last car I had the entire car done in ceramic even the front windshield and it makes a huge difference in heat transferred and protection of the interior. I also live in Vegas so it’s very easy to notice. I would recommend tinting in ceramic if you can. Def worth it.

Really seems to be worth the money. Especially in the warmer climates. Thanks Aaron

Window Tinter here - been installing since 2009. Ceramic is definitely the way to go! Personally I do not offer any metallic (sometimes referred to HP or High Performance film) film.

I offer a premium dyed film as a price point option, and ceramic film on the high end. Typically a 20% film is installed on the fronts to match Toyota factory rear privacy glass. In the 20% realm my manufacturer spec sheets show my ceramic line rejects 22% more solar energy over a dyed film. Definitely a noticeable difference.

My '19 crewmax limited will be done in Global QDP Ceramic 18% all around, with a 70% QDP Ceramic windshield.

I got the lightest tint possible. Here in NJ it’s ‘not allowed’ although I see plenty of cars with fronts blacked out

Hey, nothing wrong lighter tint! Any (quality) tint will still cut down on glare, block harmful UV rays, help protect your interior. Also window film adds a degree of safety; helping to keep the glass together in the event of vandalism or an accident.

How do you find the QDPC? Been reading some of your colleagues reviews raised concern over possible hazing. Is/was this a particular manufacturers issue? Do you notice any green or blue hue? I recall my times in Ogden and SLC recall it does get fairly hot there. What type of feedback are you getting from your customers?
btw, what % your thoughts Toyota uses on their privacy..would 30% be that far off a match from 20%. Also liking the 70% Ceramic clear windshield similar/same results as @040Tundra mentions. Im heading to TX so I'll probably be pulling trigger on the better package combination.

I really like Global's QDP line - been using it for about 4 years now. Unfortunately hazing, more specifically low-angle haze, is a characteristic of all ceramic film. It is not a manufacturer defect of any kind. To be honest the sun has to be in just the right spot to notice any sort of hazing. In my opinion most complaints of the 'ceramic haze' are exaggerated. As long as I've been installing it I haven't had one complaint.

It's been a while since I've put a VLT meter on the Tundra privacy glass... If I recall it meters around 22 or 24%. When 20% is installed the windows will meter around 18%, but it matches very close due to all of the light entering the front of the vehicle through the windshield.

I would never consider 30% a "front match". The 30% will be noticeably lighter in the front, but still has a very nice appearance on the Tundra IMO.

The ceramic sounds nice and keeping the heat out is a big plus with the hot temperatures we get in AZ. I would be hesitant to install it on the windshield though because of the higher cost. I've gotten so many windshields replaced due chips/cracks from our freeways, I'd hate to spend the money on adding the ceramic to the front only to need to do it all over again.

I've been hearing a lot about the ceramic tint but have heard of the haziness. I've got regular tint on my truck. I put 20% on the rear doors, rear window and on the front doors. There was legal (50%) on front windows and they tinted over that so not sure what mine would read. But tell you this, wish I would have went with 5% on back doors and window because the front windshield lets so much light in.
