Going to trade in the Tacoma for the Tundra.
i know what i want but i don't know which trim level would be worth the price.
    SR5 or Limited.
i know i'm going to pick the TRD OR 4x4 package but im debating on which trim level to get. what are the perks and the cons on each.

I just traded my 13 FJ in for a Tundra SR5 with the SX package. I got a great deal, and couldn't be happier. My GF is going to trade her 16 Tacoma for a like truck. I'll be watching this thread to see how you do.

Main benefit of the limited over the SR5 is leather seats and dual climate control.

There's a lot of little differences, the main one though is leather vs cloth seats. If you want leather, might as well go Limited or higher. Personally, I like cloth better, so I went with SR5.

DO IT!!! There's a brochure you can download from Toyota's website that compares all the available options for Tundra's and which trim levels offer them. Was super helpful for me. Figure out what are must-have's for you and deal breakers. You can negotiate fairly well for all trim levels except the PRO. PRO's are handi-tech-able if that's a thing, but comes with many upgrades I would have paid more for out of pocket upgrading them from a lower trim level, and going from a Platinum to a Pro details would have put me way over the top of where I wanted to be. Here's the link I suggest you print it and review to check things off. A little easier to read, then go back to the next day to be sure you're making the right choice.

Again, for my experience in hindsight I would have left off accessories I thought I needed and was proud I was negotiating well against, only to learn from these forums how basic they are and better options that cost half the dealer price. Here's the accessories link. Can't beat the value of the truck you get vs the markup of the Tacoma (and I came from a Tacoma), and the peace of mind of quality vs the other big truck brands.

    Good luck!

Limited is what I needed. Heated leather seats and navigation were a must.

My 2017 SR5 double cab has the telescopic steering wheel. I've got the 5.7, wonder if that makes a difference.

I concur with limited. You are getting a lot for the minimal increase in price. Off the top of my head includes, 38 gal. tank, sunroof, JBL sound system, leather, heated seats, LED lights, in bed cargo rails, and dual climate control. Some of these items you can get as an upgrade to an SR5 but at that point you are so far close to the Limited might as well make the jump.

I also recommend you drive the TRD OR version (Bilsteins and 18" wheels) and the limited with the stock suspension and 20" wheels to see what you like better. I personally like the TRD OR version as my previous vehicle had 20" wheels. I had a hard time finding black interior so dealer did an exchange. Most of the Limited models on the dealer lot were in graphite which is a very light grey (not good for young kids...). I was torn between cement and MGM, ended up going with MGM.

Do not pay extra for the side steps as the stock options are junk! They tried to charge an additional $495 for the steps on mine. I took them off immediately. My 6 year old could barely fit her foot on them. There are so many after market options in the $200-$300 range.

Idk how much the OR package is. But I'm pretty sure you don't get much. You go from 20 to 18 inch wheels, a sticker on the beside and "upgraded bilstein shocks" which aren't really that great. You may get more but I don't think so, maybe an extra plastic skid plate. If you plan of changing any of the suspension I would skip the OR model and just swap out wheels, the dealer may even swap wheels for you.

I got Navi on my SR5. Don't really need heated seats and since I don't carry passenger often I have not use for dual climate controls. Even if I was still married I would not need dual controls. I vote SR5.

I had a limited and honestly thought the SR5 cloth seats were more comfortable, plus the leather isn't the best quality on the limited. If you can live without dual climate and some of the features like blind spot monitoring (can't recall if that is an option on SR5) it might be more worth it to get an SR5 with the ability to get better aftermarket leather.

im pretty much going to keep the suspension stock since my parents are getting on the older side so ill probably look into aftermarket side steps for them.

You can buy the OEM steps on CL all day long for much less. I don't like steps so I negotiated pries without them. If the truck I wanted had them then I asked for a credit. One dealer balked because most all the new trucks have them.

I bet you can get a set of trd or or sport, or even 5100s set to zero lift for far less than what you'll spend on them with the or package
