The only downfall I can see for most would be a single mag instead of a double. But I dont mind it.

Some kind of gun is better than none at all, but DO NOT leave it in your truck unattended.

Glock 19 or 43 on my hip. I never leave guns in my vehicle. I have heard way too many theft stories. Not to mention its kind of hard to draw from your glove box when you are outside your truck and you need you gun.

I haven’t attended a Gun Show in Colorado for quite some time.

I find the local dealers to have better quality and selection.

I use this guy in Elizabeth, CO. He supplies mostly Douglas County police/Sheriff departments with custom “whatever.”

@TundraLuv, it's a alien gear holster mounted with the factory screws that come with kit. There's a member on here that actually drilled holes and bolted it. That's a more secure way, but I didn't want to tear apart center hub there. Mine has been holding up great . Here's there site, just punch in your gun type. http://aliengearholsters.com/

XD Mod 2 in .45 with CT laser. Gum Creek holster with magnetic flap and industrial strength velcro holding to console. It disappears in floorboard through tinted glass and doesn't attract attention.

A friend of mine had his truck broken into at the CLT airport. He had to park it in the lot for a few days while on a trip. His guns were at home but he was out about 2K in camera lenses and damage. The police told him that thieves generally target trucks as they most often have guns in them, and with this being NC, that they are generally correct. He said they get hit every few months out there. Something to think about....

It's a bit of a sunk cost from a theft perspective. Do you keep one in truck knowing trucks are targeted? At least the gun is covered under your auto policy, whereas it may not be covered under homeowner's. I generally don't park my car in higher crime areas, and remove any carry firearm to another holster.

I keep a gun in my truck but not in plain sight. It stays hidden but accessible. Guns are stolen from vehicles every day.

Mine is a Kahr CW9 I picked up used for only $225.

My truck gun is what I'm carrying when I get in it. This is free Arizona. No permits required, and almost everyone is armed.

I only have a beretta 9mm I bought from my brother. I don’t keep in truck at all unless I go overlanding. Never know what crazies or animals are on the trails. Even though my gun won’t stop a bear. It’s more of a false sense of security for me as I have never had any issues off-road or at all in my life here in Ca or in any state I’ve driven thru. Otherwise I have no use for it. Not scared of using the truck as a weapon if needed, but I usually get a thumbs up or nice truck so need to carry a gun on the mean streets of pacifica or Bay Area for protection. We do have a high rate of smash and grabs and leaving a gun in the truck wouldn’t be wise. Just want a shotgun now and I’ll be set. I don’t hunt, so the guns will just be for overlanding target practice if allowed or shooting ranges.

I have a 17 crewmax and my 10.5" AR pistol with the SB stays under the rear seat. Before I had an 07 Dbl cab Taco and I removed the plastic storage bins behind the rear seats. I had much more room for hiding things in the taco compared to the Tundra

I keep one in my truck not specifically for over landing either.
Living in earth quake country, when the big one hits, emergency services will be useless and the gun is for those who wish to do me harm on my way home to my family. I also keep a low profile (CATI armor) in my truck specifically for that natural disaster waiting to happen
