So I have a ECOBEE smart thermostat and I have noticed when it feels a little cold in the house I go to the thermostat and it says it set at 70 and it says its 70 so when I turn it up to 71 it kicks on and when I look at the actual temperature it says its like 2 to 3 degrees colder and it runs for a little bit til it hits the 71 degrees. Has anyone had this problem ?Looking to maybe switch to the NEST smart thermostat

Have you looked into Honeywell Lyric thermostats? The dirty secret about nest is they come with a "lifetime" battery that lasts around 5 years. At that time you get to pick out another one. It could be the air circulating around the stat when you kick on the heat that causes the fluctuations. Did you seal the hole up behind the stat where the thermostat wire is? You will get mis-readings from the air coming through there as well.

Do you have the separate sensors that adjust temp for specific rooms?

I'm not an HVAC expert but I'm pretty sure all thermostats are going to have a 2-3 degree zone where it'll float the temp, that way you're not kicking on and off constantly. That said, I have two Nest thermostats, a second gen and a third gen, and had an issue where the second gen wall plate was heating up and throwing off the temp readings by about 7 degrees. That was a fun one. Nest support was quick to send me a new wallplate, though, and that fixed the issue.

Have noticed this with regular tstat. I believe it is due to tstat placement/locatotion and air movement. The air is 70/70 at tstat, set point increased, air movement circulates and moves cooler air around tstat, then measures lower temps.
Placement is key, builders install in places not always ideal.

I did seal the wall behind it. the thing I don't get is it says 70 on the thermostat and it also says 70 actual temp but when I raise it 1 degree and the furnace starts running for about a minute and you check the actual temp it will say a few degrees lower. I know the smart thermostats will run a degree or two higher for example if I set it to 68 it might run til 69 or 70 then kick off so its not cycling so much but this seems like its stuck or frozen sometimes
