    Alloy is better than plastic...

    My used 2013 RAV4 still had the plastic oil filter housing that came stock, and even though I bought the appropriate tool for removing it, it had been installed so tight by whoever serviced it last (Toyota dealership, possibly?) that one of the tabs of the housing chipped, causing me some consternation. Even though I had plenty of time - the engine takes full synthetic oil - I looked for a couple of weeks to fins the correct alloy replacement. I haven't installed the alloy unit as of yet, but I am looking forward to it, and then I'll save the plastic one for a spare that I hope I never have need of. Time will tell...

    Doesn't fit a 2011 Camry with a 2.5 liter engine!!!

    I have a 2011 Camry with a 4 cylinder engine. The housing LOOKS like it will work, but it DOESN'T! After installing it on my car (used a torque wrench to match specs) and turning the engine on, It SPEWED OIL all over my tire, my brakes, the drive shaft and even some on my belts. It also dumped several quarts of oil on my garage floor. Obviously, I'm really pissed. Not only did I pay for the housing and cap, I also lost a lot of expensive oil. And, of course, I had to re-do the job using my old plastic housing (which I wanted to replace with a metal one) and clean up a real mess!!

    Excellent metal filter cap replacement for the plastic filter cap; V6 Toyotas

    Fits like a champ on my '17 Tacoma V6. I was told I needed to swap out the center pieces, but I cannot tell any difference in the center pieces from the one that was in the plastic housing and the one that was sent to me. They look identical in thickness and in height. I took both of them out and examined and compared them to be sure. If they are different, the difference is imperceptible to me. This one is made of metal and it seems like breaking this one is less likely if loosening it is difficult.

    Quality looks great. I haven’t installed it yet. Will do that on the next oil change. The dealership over tighten the plastic one, and some of the tabs broke off.
