BetterWeigh Mobile Towing Scale

with TowSense Technology

The BetterWeigh mobile towing scale is a Bluetooth-enabled device that plugs into your vehicle’s OBD-II port, wirelessly pairs with your smartphone and displays vehicle and trailer weights for safer, more streamlined towing.

BetterWeigh is compatible with Apple and Android phones, and it comes with a free downloadable app.

What it weighs

  • Vehicle and trailer
  • Cargo / payload
  • Tongue weight
  • Pin weight (5th wheel and gooseneck)
  • Weight distribution
  • Trailer brake gain

Features of BetterWeigh Mobile Towing Scale

Weigh Vehicle Trailer GCW BetterWeigh

Weigh Tongue Weight Scale BetterWeigh

Weigh Cargo Payload BetterWeigh

Vehicle and trailer

The BetterWeigh towing scale measures the gross combined weight of your vehicle and trailer, including the vehicle, cargo passengers and trailer. This means no more guessing to decide if your vehicle is overloaded. It also eliminates the need to drive to a vehicle scale to check the weight, saving you time and money.

Tongue weight

BetterWeigh is less expensive and more effective than most other tongue weight scales. It is also much more convenient to use. The tongue weight feature allows you to verify that your trailer tongue weight is within the 10-15% range and that it is within the vehicle’s and hitch’s rated towing capacities.

Cargo / payload

Measure the real-time weight of your cargo or truck payload with no more guessing! BetterWeigh gives you an accurate calculation of the cargo weight in real time. This is perfect for actively loading the truck bed or cargo area and making sure you’re not overloading your vehicle’s limit. It also allows you to estimate load charges.

Beyond Just a Tongue Weight Scale

Weigh Pin Weight Vertical Load BetterWeigh

Weigh Weight Distribution Setup BetterWeigh

Calculate Trailer Brake Gain BetterWeigh

Pin weight

Also ideal for 5th wheel towing and gooseneck towing, BetterWeigh calculates the pin weight or vertical load of your trailer when coupled to your truck. You can easily verify that your pin weight is within the 20-25% range. You can adjust cargo as needed to make sure you’re towing safely and avoiding possible trailer sway.

Weight distribution

Setting up your weight distribution hitch has never been easier! Put away the tape measure, pen, paper and stress – BetterWeigh displays the relative weight on your front, rear and trailer axles to ensure that your weight distribution hitch is set up and adjusted correctly. It is compatible with all weight distribution systems.

Trailer brake gain

BetterWeigh streamlines trailer brake controller setup by eliminating the need for trial and error when setting the gain. No more guesswork! With one quick, 15-mph test, BetterWeigh calculates the exact trailer brake gain needed for smooth towing and brake controller operation. This saves time and reduces stress.

BetterWeigh Smartphone Towing Scale App

Virtually no install requirements

Simply plug the BetterWeigh into the vehicle diagnostic port below the steering wheel (OBD-II). After pairing with your smartphone, the downloadable app will walk you through the setup process.

Laws of physics applied

Newton’s second Law of Motion states that Force equals Mass multiplied by Acceleration. BetterWeigh monitors these forces to calculate the various towing and hauling weights with exceptional accuracy.

Bluetooth-enabled

The BetterWeigh tongue scale will work with most Apple and Android smartphones and comes with an easy-to-use app that can be downloaded from the App Store or Apple Play.

Compatible with OBD-II vehicles

BetterWeigh works with 1996+ gas vehicles and 2004+ diesel. It also has a VIN database for faster initial setup. Vehicles that have a manual transmission or auto-level suspension will have limited functionality.

Product Description

BetterWeigh is a mobile-friendly vehicle and trailer scale that installs in seconds and wirelessly connects to your smartphone to display real-time vehicle and trailer weights, including gross weight, cargo, payload, tongue weight, pin weight and weight distribution. This compact, Bluetooth-enabled device plugs into your vehicle's diagnostic port (OBD-II) under the steering wheel, requiring absolutely no wiring, splicing or installation modifications. Just plug it in, wirelessly connect to your phone and start getting active readouts of your towing and hauling weights. It's perfect for towing a bumper pull trailer, 5th wheel trailer, gooseneck trailer or accurately measuring the weight of your cargo. BetterWeigh also makes brake controller and weight distribution hitch setup a breeze. Unlike other tongue weight scale products, BetterWeigh is smartphone-ready. The app is available for download on Apple or Android devices.

    Dangerously inaccurate!!!!
I don't typically wrote reviews but felt compelled to in this case. I WANTED to love this but instead have to warn anyone considering this product to stay clear (at least if you have a Hyundai Palisade, Honda Accord, or Ford f150) as these are all "calibrated at the factory" nd are supposed to be ready to go. Setup was easy but every reading was grosley inaccurate being dangerous if you even consider relying on this "tool" and why have it if you don't plan on relying on it???App showed between 6k-10,000 lbs for my car and trailer over 7 different "weight runs." CAT scale showed 9320. App shows tongue weight at 570lbs, cat scale showed and tongue scale showed 660lbs. That's a MASSIVE difference for a vehicle with a 500 MAX tongue weight which could result in a serious accident.Do what you want but I'd recommend staying away from it.

Installed the BetterWeigh on my 2013 F150 as I use it for towing my 20' Apex trailer in the summer. As the trailer is snowed in till spring (usually end of Apr beginning of May) I won't know how accurate this system is till then. But I did do an initial setup by taking the truck over Gov't hwy scales just east of my place and weighted the truck to see how it compared with the BetterWeigh. Actual weight on the scales was 2980 kg (6570 lbs) and the App showed about 3050 kg, so I would say it's within about 100 kg (200 lbs) of the actual weight. Once spring is here we'll see how it measures up with the trailer attached, as I usually weigh the truck/trailer each time I leave the city as the Gov't has free hwy weigh scales both east & west of the city. I tried to set it up on my Flex (which has factory trailer tow package installed), but the App wouldn't read vehicle info (other than the VIN) so tried to go thru the detailed set up as listed by the instruction on the App. After many acceleration attempts as listed by the App, I never really got an accurate reading that was close to what the hwy scale said my Flex weighed - there is a possibility that I may have not used the proper weight #s from the VIN door sticker - may try it again after reviewing instructions to see if it will give a reading for the Flex.
