Should have just gotten a 2way crime stopper unit.
4 Stars
Should have just gotten a 2way crime stopper unit.
Okay previously i rated this product as 1 star. I guess I WOULD keep that up, but after a LONG time of trial and error install. I found the settings that worked. I have a CRIMESTOPPER rs4-g5 and FORTIN EVO ALL bypass and this unit. I USED ADS PROTOCOL ON THIS UNIT TO INTERFACE W/ the crimestopper unit. MY Fortin is wire to wire install, SO NATURALLY I set DataLink Protocol as D2D. The Fortin Bypass has to be set option A1 Door Locks, ON, A3 Key Bypass, ON, and the Only other option i have set is A4 Heated Seats. The vehicle installed on is an Chevy 2004 SUburban. There are some options in the crime stopper that have to be set but for the most part, if I recall it's not many that need to be changed from default. NOW it works every time. It was a pain to get right but it works now. I was having problems with the FORTIN Protocol, as some videos state they need Audiovox protocol and or the Fortin Protocol, .... I dunno, they didn't work for me. My crime stopper for the same reason is hardwired to my fortin using the fortin wiring diagram. I was never able to get Data working correctly with all 3 units hooked up. So that's hardwired and the CL6 is wired up on the side white port. It does not intereferee with the seat memory function anymore so all is good there. I'm happy but lack of instructions by this manufacture and my combo are not existent. If they would have reached out to me I would have been happier. But whatever, I guess that's the lack up support we are supposed to be used to today. I Hope my info helps somebody with the same setup as mine. AS this unit is good value once setup. I will probably now be more inclined to purchase the LONGRange bluetooth version as soon as this unit request me to pay $45 for a year. I have yet to be able to think of a situation where my factory or Crimestopper remote has run out of range. But a mile + bluetooth option sounds good.
