Also - I recommend anyone using techstream to be careful, research online and prepare. It is easy to mess up! Also, be careful to follow instructions on techstream exactly!! Just having shift lever in N instead of P messed up zero-point calibration. This was easily fixed by recalibrating using techstream, however it shows how easily you can mess up!
Recommendations when using cable w/techstream:
1) Be shure your laptop battery is going to last and that you pc don't suddenly goes into sleep mode. You could even use an extension cord and charger while techstreaming.
2) Be shure you don't drain your car battery. If you have a good car battery charger, charge the car battery while techstreaming, and you won't have problems caused by low voltage!
I'm very satisfied with product. It has 2.x-something firmware version, which is a must for my car (Land Cruiser Prado, 2001 [11.2000], GKPNYW Left hand drive).
My only negative with product was price - I think it was a bit too expensive. However, it works, and I am going to need it while doing future repairs and service on the car - like changing injectors and reprogramming with techstream.
" Support models: Toyota/Lexus models 1996-2018"
But, after trying everything possible I emailed the company and they confirmed that the v2.0.4 cable will not properly interface with my 2004 Lexus LS430.
They told me to return it and purchase their cable with older firmware, v1.4.1. I did return it, and I did order a different cable--but from another seller because Diagking wasted hours of my life trying to get the wrong cable to work!
I also ended up throwing away Diagking's software. It was basically a bunch of stuff thrown onto a disc without proper folder names and organization. I watched the included video first and installed Techstream following it, but I later figured out that it did not apply to the Techstream version that was on the disc. What a WASTE OF CUSTOMER's TIME! The driver that they want you to install is just the standard ftdichip driver, but they renamed it with their 'LUCKYBUY' name and have you create a program files folder called 'LUCKYBUY.' Totally unnecesary. Also, the registry hack they require is an unnecessary way of doing the install.
I found practically every version of Techstream available free online, including the latest v14 from Techstream's website in the UK. After trying several in both 32 and 64 bit, I kept Techstream v6 because it worked as a sweet setup for me with along with virtual WinXPMode on a 64bit laptop that I did not mind using "in the field."
Was all this worth getting to add a new master smart key on my 15 year old car? The lack of coherent instructions, the wrong instructions on disc, the abundance of incorrect instructions found on the internet, and lastly: the wrong firmware version cable (that had me looking for fault elsewhere) caused this project to dominate several weeks of my off-work life. No, I would not have done this if I knew how much time it was going to take to make successful!
I did need to contact the seller as I didn't see my model year listed when connecting to the car, and when contacting them during evening hours in the US, they respond extremely quickly. I could not see my 2020 in the list (even though the VIN was detected), but the seller told me I can use the 2018 model that shows up.
I was able to easily modify the door lock settings, and pair a credit card key to the car using Techstream. I'm glad I went with this cable.
Yes I had problem following the video instruction of installing Techstream but after trying on the second night it finally works! Maybe I just missed something in the instructions outlined by AM.
This product save me arm and leg in obtaining another working key and finding the status of my TPMS sensor. One caveat though, I was unable to register new TPMS sensors.
