Maxshine’s original 15mm orbit, long-throw dual-action polisher offers improved electrical efficiency, ensuring more power and torque on any surface. This makes stalling an issue of the past, which in turn delivers consistent swirl-free results.
Designed with the user in mind, the MaxShine M15 features a rubberized horn as well as handle to minimize vibration, and fit the user perfectly. Polishing no longer has to be an hours-long, grueling process which ends up in physical fatigue.
The high-quality speed dial allows the user to choose from 1800 to 4800 oscillations per minute. Whether compounding or finishing the most delicate paint, the M15 is the tool for the job.
At a whopping 4 meters or 13 feet, the power cable offers plenty of length for a free-range of motion around any vehicle. The base of the cord is reinforced as well, for a long life, free of cord failure.
Every component on the inside of the M15 has been strategically placed to distribute the machine weight evenly, for a balanced tool. Requiring little to no additional pressure on horizontal panels, the M15 does the work, not the user.

My only disappointment is that I coudn't run 3" pads on it, I'm sure I could run 6" pads or even 7" pads if I was so inclined - this thing really has that much power. It's a great tool but it can't be all things to all people, so I will be purchasing a 3" polisher in the near future.
The locking trigger is awesome. However, the trigger lock can be a bit finicky at times.
I started my detailing business with the Harbor Freight 6" DA polisher that everyone in the world has used at one time or another. It vibrates way too much, is very loud and doesn't do a very good job at cutting, and makes your hands hurt for hours after using it. It has it's place in detailing, but it's not really a full car piece of equipment.
in comes the Max shine 15 mm DA (called the Shine Master now - same polisher new name) and it's my first long throw polisher. I was very eager to use it.
Upon opening the box, there was a fairly nice carrying bag inside, a D handle and screws, extra brushes, a washer for backing plate modification, and a hex key. The 5 " backing plate was already installed and tight from the factory, so no need to do that. Also, the backing plate spins freely while the unit is off. Basically, this was ready to go straight out of the box. And there was a smaller bag to carry all your spare parts as well.
I was very eager to test it out, and since I can't operate now due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I tested it out on my wife's metallic grey Saturn with very heavy oxidation, scratches, halos, you name it, it's on the car. I didn't prep the panel correctly (I didn't even wash it), just did a rinse-less wash on a test section with nothing else. I taped off my test section. Unfortunately, I didn't have any 5" foam pads (i thought i ordered a 6 " backing plate but oh well), so I put a 6" orange cutting pad on and used 3D One 400 (one step correction). Using the standard Cris-cross method, I attempted to remove the scratches and swirls.
With only a few drops, I was able to remove SOME of the scratches. I'd say the orange pad removed about 50% of the scratches. I then switched to a polish pad to finish it off. There were still noticeable scratches, so I upped my game to a 5" Uro 50-50 pad. Primed the pad, did standard 2 pass at about 1 inch per second. Well, that did it. The clear coat was just harder than I thought. Then I followed up again with a polishing pad and I was actually able to see the metal flakes pop! That's exactly what I was hoping for, so I was very pleased at how easy it was to remove the deeper scratches with this unit. And even while applying a decent amount of pressure, it didn't stall one single time.
Pros:
WAAAAAY better than HF 6" da polisher.
Very easy to control
Soft start
Trigger speed control
lockable trigger
Very low vibration
Click confirmation speed dial
easy to access speed dial when using
Cons:
I don't have any because this is my first long throw DA polisher. However, compared to the HF one, this is like night and day.
BUT!!!!!! the grease inside the Maxshine gearbox is horrible. Just don't use their grease. It's cheap and offers little protection of the polisher.
Do your maintenance immediately prior to first use. Remove the bad grease that came with the unit. It's crap and it will not help you. In my case, their cheap grease (silicone) actually made the machine vibrate and was fairly loud. So, instead I got some Valvoline high heat, red lithium, marine grease and packed the gear box completely. It made a huge difference in how well the machine worked. It was less noisy, less vibrations, smoother operating and didn't get hot at all.
I have literally zero experience with a long throw DA, but I really like this polisher, even knowing that there are better polishers out there. However, I feel this is an adequate polisher for my needs. It's not heavy, it fits my hands very well, it doesn't vibrate too much and my hands were not numb after using it (unlike the HF DA).
I would recommend purchase of this unit based upon my initial impressions.
Unfortunately, my State is under a stay-at-home order and I'm not allowed to operate my detailing company because of that. So, I don't know how long it's going to be before I can reopen. I mention this because I'd like to give updated feedback, but it's going to be awhile before I can do that.
Again, I think this is a nice starter DA long throw polisher. It's not very expensive for a long throw, and it's made of very high quality materials.
Not only would I recommend this for purchase, but I WOULD buy another one if I need one. Maybe the 21mm one instead once I get used to the increased cut from the 15mm one.
Edit: July 14, 2020 - I have now used the polisher several times. It feels good and hasn't had one single problem. It does get some vibration but that's only on huge body panels like the hood because the support is less in those areas which I assume are prone to vibrate with any type of polisher.
I'm very pleased with my purchase. It was not very difficult to learn how to use it either. I was a little intimidated as I'd never used a long throw. But, this was very easy to learn. I still recommend this as a good polisher. It just works and it's not uncomfortable or has made my hands gotten numb. Now, if you had to use this every day, all day long, I'm not sure. I don't do that amount of detailing, nor do I want to lol. This seems more like a solid and well made unit for entry level users.
I've been using Rupes for awhile now but gave up on them after losing 2 Rupes 15 units in under 3 years.
First impression out the box....
First thing you'll notice is the nice bag the DA comes in.
A bit surprised to see the included bag, a plus.
Extra brushes included too.
This was a nice add on their part to give us the brushes, just in case.
The machine
First impression on first use...
Was working on a faded Toyota when the DA was delivered.
Was using my Flex 3401 at that time.
I took it to my cart and put a MaxShine Polishing pad on the unit.
The MaxShine 15 felt really good in my hands right away.
When I hit the switch it was so smooth, more so than my Rupes 15., was a bit surprised by that being the Rupes cost far more.
To my likings....
Well made
Doesn't bog down like the Mark II
Cooler running pads
The backing plate is really nice.
It not only has holes under the backing plate but also on the side which releases the hot air keeping my pads cooler.
MaxShine is made by MaxShine which is always a good thing.
Because of that they give you a lifetime warranty even on a less expensive model.
Two small things I didn't like but still gave it 5 Stars
The power cord could be better but I can change it out myself.
The DA doesn't have slow starts it has fast start but I adapted to it quickly.
Will order 2 more for our staff
