They are not the same as chains, and will only move you couple of inches per SLOW tire rotation.
As the tires rotate, the blocks will move, tightening the straps. Which can make removing them a bear if you don't get the blocks back to the original instal position.
I purposely stuck my Dodge 2500 in my yard, and only used rear axle (2wd) to unstuck testing just two of the four blocks. One on each rear drive wheel.
Highlights: Easy to install. Easy to clean. Compact storage compared to chains. Easy to remove IF YOU reverse the tire rotation and loosen up the tension. Or, beat them back to the original position.
Lowlight: None really, if you have reasonable expectations and follow the instructions. They won't move you along like chains will, and they will tear up leave ruts if you test them in your yard!

Ordered these for my minivan. I live in ND and have a Dodge grand caravan (read hates snow). We had a nasty snow storm last week and the hubs got us stuck (and then towed) in the storm. I ordered these as he worked to shovel us out.
Yesterday he got his 4x4 truck stuck (we really did get a lot of snow) in the pasture. I suggested he take my new toy out to test it. After many hours of effort he caved.
The blocks went on simply and with no issues (you must have holes in your rims to use them) he was able to get right out using them.
There may have been some gentle reminders about my genius. I'm thrilled to have these on me and will feel much safer out in the wilds of ND!
I have 2002 Mustang which I park on the street in town. I live in Pennsylvania.
The street is surface is tar and chip, over asphalt, and it is well maintained.
When it snows, it normally takes me about 2 hours to dig myself out, even if there is only 4 inches.
I bought these in the best hopes that they would get me "unstuck" as the claim states, but in my situation, they simply did not work.
Mustangs are notoriously bad for winter weather, so my expectations were low, but I was at least hoping the would help in some capacity. They did not. In fact, I feel they had the opposite effect, and ironically got me more stuck, by digging holes into the road.
Perhaps they would work with a FWD vehicle, or a heaver RWD vehicle, but I can't say for certain.
PRO's:
- Innovative
- Made in America
- Easy To Put On
CON's
- Did Not Work For Me.
- Over Priced - although the quality of appearance, is initially good, I feel a fair price would be more around $30. (let's face it, it's a strap and a piece of rubber.)
- Durability - I would be surprised if someone got more than 10 uses out of these. (I've included a picture of what mine look like after one use.)
- Difficult To Remove - once used, the strap gets REALLY tight, and the Velcro that holds it in place kinda gets in the way of removing it. You would be hard pressed to remove one of these by hand, without the use of a tool, like some forceps. (I used needle nose pliers)
- It Feels Damaging to the Vehicle - Aside from all the stones and debris that gets tossed up and hitting the paint, it feels like it wrecks havoc on the rear suspension.
Final Thoughts: I hate to rip it apart like this, because I'm sure the inventor/company had the best intentions in mind when developing the product, but in my situation it just didn't work; and because of that, I cannot recommend them. I'll probably return them.

They worked amazing in soft mud helping a 2wd car get free over a short distance.
Used them in snow over a mile or two. Was impossible to remove one and had to cut the strap. The other was lost and flew off. I’d recommend something else for snow.
I'm buying a set for all of my family members this Christmas.
