Product Description
Access a whole new world of information about your vehicle
The vehicle in your garage can be as smart as your phone. Turn your Bluetooth-enabled Android phone or tablet into a sophisticated diagnostic scan tool and real-time parameter monitor. The VP11 directly plugs into your vehicle's OBDII port and connects to an OBD II App on your Android device via Bluetooth. Whenever you have a check engine light on or want to see how your vehicle is performing, this little gadget will help you better understand your vehicle.
Note:
1. The device requires a compatible third party App or software to work (some are free and some are paid). We usually recommend Car Scanner ELM OBD2, Torque, OBD Fusion, Inforcar, which are available in Google Play Store.
2. It only works with Android and Windows devices. Apple iOS devices are NOT supported. See our OBDCheck BLE if you use an iPhone or iPad. Android head units are also NOT recommended.
3. As long as the Veepeak device is paired via Bluetooth, you can just start the app to connect. It may show as saved, paired or previously connected on some Android phones, but it's actually connected.
See why the check engine light is on
With the VP11 and an OBD App, you can quickly read the trouble codes causing the check engine light to come on. You may then find out what the possible causes are and fix simple problems by yourself, potentially saving you a trip to a garage and hundreds of dollars. When you need to bring your car to a mechanic, it also gives you a peace of mind.
More things you can do
When using with a proper OBD II App, you may
Read and erase diagnostic trouble codes,
View freeze frame data,
View live sensor data,
View I/M readiness,
Create your own dashboard,
And more to discover!

The veepeak mini is small so it doesn't get in the way when you leave it in the obd port while driving. Some cars have an awkward obd location and an obd reader will get in the way of your leg.
The free version of Car Scanner App works great. Tip: I was able to add some readings like car battery voltage by going to the dashboard view and then adding a new sensor. For some reason I could not find battery voltage in the sensors list within settings.
I was unable to connect to any Android tire pressure apps, but surprisingly Car Scanner had tire pressure sensors available which worked. I found that there is a glitch when shutting off the car, the tires pressures will jump up 20psi and it takes a couple minutes for each tire to show the correct reading. Remember also that when you shut the car off, you have to turn the ignition back to the ON position for the Veepeak to communicate with your phone. Other than this, the tire pressures seem very accurate compared to my tire pump gauge and change in realtime while driving. Annoying, most cars only give you a low tire pressure warning so it's great to have actual pressure readings for each tire (see picture).
Some more advanced readings like transmission temperature may have to be added manually in the app through a PID. Google instructions for your car and search something like "transmission temperature PID" I was able to find instructions for my car through rav4world.com and toyotanation.com to add the transmission temp readout in Car Scanner.
One thing that could be improved by getting a more expensive obd reader is the ability to turn the unit off. This one stays on while plugged in so it might drain your car battery after a few days. There are also more expensive units that can use wifi or bluetooth, and are compatible with iphone and android.

My phone is a Galaxy S10+ (Snapdragon 855 8 core/8GB RAM/UFS 2.1 storage @ 6gbps/Bluetooth 5.0).
I am not sure what version of Bluetooth this device uses. I am assuming 4.0 from the info I'm able to find. The hardware seems to be moderately powerful because I can load my screen up with gauges and have zero slowdowns.. ever. No jamming, no lost connections. I've seriously yet to have an issue with this product or the software I'm using with it.
I assume the data transfer rate of BT5.0 or higher isn't necessary. I can log .csv files and open them with any app that can read them (like Chrome, for example). But it can log and show live data without any hitches.
I'd recommend it to a friend.
It's mentioned everywhere, but just realize you need Android, you need Bluetooth and you need SOME kind of compatible software on your Android device that can utilize this scanner. As mentioned, I am using Torque Pro. You can change how fast some items update vs others, but a lot of mine are updating at least twice a second (I can go faster or slower) and like I said, even with a page full of data being updated, there's no slowdowns. It doesn't get hot. It constantly and smoothly updates, whew, for example, MPH (You can use GPS or OBDII speed, in this instance, I'm using OBDII and a screen to show the difference in OBDII speed vs GPS), RPM, Vacuum, Intake Temp, Load %, Throttle %, EVAP usage and more. I can't even remember what all I have on one screen.
You can add formulas (you can find them online) and see if they will work for your car, too. They are for the Torque app.
I can reset my codes without issue. I have a massive vacuum leak. Being a 2000 Park Avenue with the 3800 II @ 120kish miles, I'm fairly certain it's the LIM gasket. It's some head/intake gasket that blows on them all between cyl. 4 and 5, because I've had misfires there.
So I got it to just mainly keep an eye on my one code that keeps popping up (IAC can't control the high idle) and ended up being able to see so much more. I really love this tool.
I use it EVERY time I drive haha. I love looking down and seeing MAF cfm flow, intake temp, Volumetric Efficiency (terrible with the vacuum leak) and more. Just so many little things I didn't expect to be able to see and all updating perfectly like clockwork.
So, yeah, some of this praise is to the software, but the hardware, itself, is flawless at sending data all through Bluetooth, somehow, with zero slowdowns. I'm impressed.
I went for this particular model, because it was small and thus easy to carry around while on vacation, but also because I already had a good OBD reader app on my phone, which I use with another Bluetooth reader at home. And right out of the box, this one connected to my phone flawlessly and worked perfectly, allowing me to see that the check engine light in question, was only referring to an evaporative system leak (gas cap not screwed correctly), and not something major to worry about. Closed the gas cap correctly, cleared the code using this reader on the car, and boom, done! Holiday resumed with a peace of mind.
Great piece of tech that I recommend getting, and carrying around where ever you drive a car.

Mit der APP OBD Fusion oder Car Scanner ELM geht es sehr gut.
