Bottom line is that the combination I have made has caused this to be my best sleeping experience, I have slept on spring mattresses from queen down to twin, on box springs and off. I have slept on the floor, on a camp mattress with a sleeping bag (with and without a yoga mat underneath), on a giant bean bag, in a papasan, an air mattress, in a hammock and on a shikibuton knock off.
Care wise, it originally was shipped vaccuum sealed into a tube shape, the whole mattress took about a day and a half to reach full size, and I left it out during a dry and sunny day to air out. There was some off gassing but after the two days of settling and putting a waterproof/bugproof cover onto it, there was very little smell or extra care needed. The foam springs back into shape immediately and does not lump up, even after nearly two years of constant use. Considering that I was sleeping on several layers of lumpy foam, and then a camping mat, and then a hammock, a super firm foam mattress took some getting used to. I gave it a few days before I decided it was too firm and got the foam topper for it. The 1.5 inches is perfectly adequate and takes the edge off from the firmness of the tri-fold's foam.
The three foam sections are bound together in a tri-fold slip. Because of their design, there is a crease on the top side and then another on the bottom side, one at chest height and another at about knee height. Without the topper I put on it, those creases can become distracting if you shift or get up, as well, that means that you want to completely flip the bed over then you need to turn it foot-to-head as well for one crease to bend at the top and keep your elbow from sinking through the two parts of foam. A foam topper fixes all of that.
Along with the tri-fold I got the 1.5 memory foam topper, the waterproof/bugproof slip and a full sheet set and comforter with duvet. A complete new bedding set and it came to $275. I also rent/move every few years so I needed a mattress that was capable of moving with me. This sucker and the memory foam topper folded up nice and pretty, and I then wrapped the whole thing in a tarp and strapped it to the roof of my hatchback, drove down I-5 and had no problems. The tri-fold is not that heavy, more awkward than anything, so investing in the cover/carry case might be worthwhile if you move more often than I do.
Update: If you do not regularly flip the mattress, it is prone to sagging, so I have since gotten a 3" latex foam topper to offset this, essentially this combination (memory foam topper, latex topper and polyfoam base) is similar to most of the "bed in a box" mattresses that are sold. Hopefully it will be the same in comfort level.
I will totally recommend this and my extra combination for a comfortable sleeping experience at a bargain.

Cons : The zipper for the fabric cover feels cheap and easy to break. Not the end of the world, could always be replaced if broken. Handle with care.
Overall great product considering the price, comfort and convenience. Durability is yet to be determined.
1. I had just moved out, far away and needed a bed. Something inexpensive, but quality (sounds too good to be true, right?) I wasn't sure what kind of bed I wanted yet, but since I hadn't found a place yet and was staying with a friend who lived in a bachelors suite, I decided that something more "portable" would be convenient, especially because...
2. I was a temporary guest and didn't know how many places I'd be staying in until I found my own place. I needed a bed that could be moved around, and for that, a standard mattress is just not going to work. The folding aspect was also appealing since...
3. I would need a guest bed when I got my own place. This bed was meant to be temporary for me until I got a larger one. Something that could be tucked away was important, but so was comfort, because...
4. Everyone in my family who would be staying with me has back problems, including me. Especially my mom. Finding something that was also comfortable enough for my mom's bad back was very important, since she would be visiting often and her health is obviously important.
I got exactly what I wanted and needed, and I was very pleased with my purchase. I haven't had any guests over yet to try it out, but the friend I was staying with was renting a furnished apartment and her bed was absolute garbage. She has very little money and also needed something inexpensive, but quality. When she tried my new bed she was very impressed. She hasn't gotten one yet since she has no money, but I believe it's one of the things she's saving for.
An unexpected but welcomed surprise was that I discovered that this bed (I have the twin) is longer then the standard twin mattress. Despite thinking that finding sheets that would fit would be harder (which turned out to not be true) I was pleasantly surprised by this. I don't remember reading that it was a Twin XL but I'm glad it is- it makes it so much more comfortable when you can stretch out and not dangle off the edge.
One downfall: While this mattress is good for a guest bed and dragging it in the closet/under your bed, it is pretty awkward to transport if your taking it out of the house. I imagine the carry case (which is ridiculously expensive) makes it much easier, partially because you're not worried about putting it down on the dirty floor. But without it, it's bulky and there's no good place to grab and hold onto it. Because of this awkwardness it also causes it to feel heavier when moving. When carrying it up to my new place, I actually asked my friend to come over to help me with it.
Also, this is a minor concern since it is temporary, but the gassing did give me quite a headache. I am prone to getting headaches easily, so if you are sensitive to this then you will want to let the mattress air out in another room for a couple weeks before you use it.
All in all, this is a good quality product, and I would definitely recommend it to others. \I've been sleeping in this bed for 3 months now and I have no complaints; I'm even considering getting the larger version for my bedroom.
