    After reading a write up on 4Runners I saw that this adapter was necessary to replace the stock 6x9 speakers with aftermarket speakers. I went with Infinity Reference 9632IX 6x9s. The bracket needs to have the rectangular hole up so the harness wires can pass through to the speakers terminals. I had to use different screws than what came with my speakers because they were about 2” too long. So be prepared to use shorter screws. 2” metal screws work great. All in all great product.

    I had to make modifications to all four brackets to fit the wiring harness. The modifications required cutting a pre-cut hole that was too small to hold the wiring harness. Also had to glue the harness clip to the bracket. As long as I stay with factory size type speakers, I should be able to reuse the same brackets and wiring harness. Just wish there would have been a better approach for existing designed wiring harness clips.
