The main advantage it is much cleaner.
Some of the purists out there may think you need to pull the drain plug in order to get all the oil out of an engine. That is not entirely true in all cases, but it is fairly easy to see how much oil has been extracted. From personal experience, removing 90%+ of the oil from an engine as well as replacing the filter is more than what is required to keep your engine running healthy. I would agree though that removing the plug every now and again just to wipe off any metal shaving that may be there is still not a bad idea.
Update July 2017
This product is good. The original unit I received had a defective seal, which the company sent me quickly. The customer service response was excellent, from the manufacturing company. I never heard back from the seller.
