Custom hitches

A trailer hitch receiver is the starting point for most people looking to tow with their vehicle. CURT offers over 1,000 different custom hitch models to provide a perfect, factory-like fit on most vehicles on the road today. Our custom hitches provide a standard hitch receiver to mount a variety of towing accessories.

Vehicle-trailer wiring

The next step in equipping your vehicle for towing is to add a trailer wiring harness. Like our hitches, CURT custom wiring is made vehicle-specific for each make and model. Virtually all of our custom vehicle-trailer wiring harnesses install using existing factory connectors on the vehicle for a plug-and-play connection. No splicing necessary!

Ball mounts

With a custom trailer hitch receiver installed on your vehicle, a variety of ball mount options can be installed as needed. We offer loaded ball mounts with a trailer ball already torqued in place, as well as adjustable ball mounts, multi-ball mounts, tow hooks and more. A ball mount can be secured into the receiver using one of our hitch pins or hitch locks.

Cargo management

To add cargo space to your vehicle, CURT offers a number of cargo management accessories. Our cargo carriers are available in a convenient, use-as-needed hitch-mounted design, as well as a roof rack option. Product Description

Like trailer hitches and ball mounts, electrical connectors range all over the board in shape, size and capability, but no matter what your trailer's electrical functions are, you need a solid connection to keep the power flowing and ensure safety on the road. CURT electrical connectors are designed and manufactured to give you a reliable connection every time you plug in your trailer. This 7-way round RV blade connector is designed to supply power for tail lights, turn signals, electric trailer brakes, a 12-volt battery, reverse lights and brake lights, as well as a ground connection. It features rust-free black plastic construction and is a male-end plug, specifically designed for the trailer side of the connection. 7-way RV blades are typically used on RV travel trailers, and this particular connector can be easily interchanged with other 7-way RV connectors.

Unfortunately there are several ways to wire a trailer especially if it is home made. My new truck is a Chevy with a 7-way factory connector so I am swapping from the old 6-way plug. It seems the only constant is the white, which is ground. I removed the old plug and noted the colors and locations so I would have an idea what went where. The new 7-way plug seems fairly robust and will except several wire sizes of terminals for a #6 screw. My trailer has a 14/6 wire meaning it has 6 wires that are 14 gauge. I used blue terminals as they are for 14 or 16 gauge wire. If you can use a good Klein or Sta-Kon tool for crimping. I crimp in on the seam side of the terminal (see the yellow I got backwards- probably just as good). Don't wrap the wire around the screw unless you have to. Once again-the wiring guides are almost worthless, go by the truck schematic. If you get lost, secure the white (ground) where it needs to be and put the wires one at a time in the black (+ power) location to see what they operate. Don't forget that the plug is mirror image of the truck schematic. One last thing- only tighten the cover screw till it is flush. Any more and it will oblong the cover, like in the first listing picture.
