Product Description
Back in 1960 a dog fancier visited Grannick's Pharmacy and explained that her dog would become nervous before every show and start chewing and licking his coat. She asked if there was anything available to help stop him. No such product existed, but in the days when Irv Grannick learned his profession, pharmacists regularly prepared their own compounds and ointments. He tried different bitter flavorings until he came up with a formula that worked. For some time thereafter he gave his customer and her friends what he called "Bitter Apple" free of charge. Word spread among dog fanciers and breeders and before long friends were encouraging Irv to market "Grannick's Bitter Apple." His original "manufacturing plant" was in the kitchen of his home and his wife, Mary, wasn't thrilled. Over the years Grannick's Bitter Apple has grown into a full line of taste-deterrent grooming cosmetics for pets. Many copycat products have come and gone because pets soon acquired a taste for them. Only Grannick's Bitter Apple works and keeps working. Every day more veterinarians, groomers and pet lovers around the world discover the benefits of Grannick's Bitter Apple. Grannick's Bitter Apple is far and away, the most recognized and best selling product line of its kind in the world. Also effective in preventing pets from chewing their beds, your clothes, shoes, furniture, etc.

We have a puppy golden retriever. He likes to retrieve everything and then wants you to chase him to get the object. We've trained him to do everything else.... sit, speak, paw, rollover, stay, lay down but the whole "leave it" or "drop it" may be understood but he also enjoys the game of us chase and loves to rip things apart. I'm not chasing him. The other day I tried to get something from him and he literally pulled me down. He's about 9 months old now, but he's already big and strong. Sweet, loveable guy, but I'm tired of this. Once in a while, I admit it's cute, but it got old quick. Well, not that quick, but about six months of this feels like a long time. He has also destroyed things because he loves to things tear up. My recliner, countless shoes, the bottom of our couch and some of my favorite throw pillows. I recently bought a new pillowcase to replace the throw pillow cover he destroyed. This time he destroyed the new pillow cover and the inside pillow. Stuffing everywhere. I had enough. My husband suggested I buy a detterent spray, but so many had mixed reviews or mentioned cats clawing more than dogs chewing, but this particular chew preventative spray seemed to be the best out there and I can vouch it 100% works. I almost bought it more to appease my husband because I didn't have too much faith in the product, but now I'm thanking him! Our puppy stole my sandal this morning. I got it back sprayed it, let it dry for like 30 sec and put it on the floor. He grabbed it and immediately spit it out, shook his head and was moving his tongue trying to get the taste out of his mouth while his granddogma (thats me.... is that a thing?) did a victory dance in the living room. Last night I sprayed my ivory colored, textured throw pillow. No staining. Not sure if it were a smoother fabric or cotton material if there could have been, but no problem what so ever on this light colored pillow or any other objects we've used it on. I put the pillow in its usual spot, on the ottoman bench in plain sight where he can easily reach it and in less than a minute he ran to grab it and immediately spit it out, again shook his head and didn't like the taste of it at all! He was not happy and disdained the pillow after that. 😁 He never went back to it all night or all morning. Before I could never leave pillows out without him stealing them. I'm hoping he'll get to the point where he can detect that taste by smelling it on an object and won't even put it in his mouth but the release is so quick, there is never any chewing, or damage or chasing, so I'm 100% satisfied! It seems once hes learned an objects new taste he leaves it aling so my hope is it will only take one try of each sprayed object. I'm so excited to think of putting out my fall decor that I actually was considering not putting out at all for fear of him stealing. I kept thinking what are we going to do around the holidays when even more stuff comes out? What a blessing! I can't vouch for how long it works. He no longer chews or keeps anything in his mouth we spray with it. So we may have to respray items after awhile, but judging by his reaction it's not something he should ever get used to. He really hates it. It seems to be very unpleasant and I'm fine with that. Its nit hurtful, just unpleasant. He has a million toys to play with or destroy. I'm thrilled and highly recommend! I hope you all have the same results and can get back to enjoying your pooch while having peace and calmness in your home! 😊🐕
I re applied every week till he had no interest in them.
Now he is an adult and has no interest in wires anymore.
The spray is alcohol based and very wet but has no scent after it’s dry and hasn’t discolored or altered anything we’ve sprayed it on. And it works. I have bought it three times now and will continue to buy it as needed.
