This tool is well worth the price and gets the job done right with minimal hassle.
It will get warm/hot if you try to do a ton of studs at once so be mindful and maybe handle with leather gloves and or give it time to cool after a few studs.
Works great and makes stud installs super easy.
The tool works by acting as a spacer for your lug nut to draw down the wheel stud onto the hub without spinning the stud (the tool has a bearing built in). You can do something similar with a stack of washers, an old bearing, or some other hacks, but this tool does the job without damaging anything in the process. If you plan do do at least 1 wheel stud replacement, I'd recommend this tool, and the larger truck one if you do heavy vehicles.
I used this tool to replace all five wheel studs on one wheel of my Crosstrek. I was replacing the brake discs at the same time. So the process was super easy. I first tried using thick fender washers but that didn't work well. I read about this tool and gave it a try with a Milwaukee M18 impact wrench at its lowest torque setting. It did the job. As others have noted, you must lubricate the threads on the wheel studs before using this tool or you'll damage the threads on the new wheel studs. And after the wheel studs are securely seated, you must clean the threads. You don't want lubricant on the studs or your torque setting will be off.
