Product Description
The LANGKA Blob Eliminator and touch-up paint are all you need to repair unsightly paint chips, including road rash and deep scratches. Our Blob Eliminator is specially designed to soften excess paint and allow you to wipe it away, leaving the repaired area perfectly smooth. This kit includes the LANGKA 2oz blob eliminator. This blob eliminator works best with all Touch-up Paints and can be diluted with water to lessen its strength. Use the LANGKA blob eliminator once the touch-up paint becomes completely dry to get the perfect and smooth finish. Works on old touch-up repairs. Here is what I did to fill some rock chips and rear bumper scratches like a pro:
1. Get a color kit from the dealer. It should come with base coat and clear coat that perfectly matches your car. These usually run about $25. It is important to get the clear coat or your chip will look matte (all base coats dry matte. They do not dry shiny. That is what the clear coat is for. If you want to fill a chip like a pro, don't skip the clear coat).
2. Shake the base coat container. Dip a toothpick inside and get a ball of wet paint on the tip. Using the toothpick dab the chip/scratch (be quick, it dries fast and gets gummy). Your goal is to stay inside the chip and fill up to the edges. For scratches I just blob paint over the scratch in the direction it goes without worrying about "staying inside the lines". Being messy with Blob eliminator will not reduce the quality of your results.
3. Check back in an hour. If you can still see metal or plastic coloring behind the paint you applied then put another layer on.
4. Leave the paint chip alone for a day. I say this (even though the instructions say as soon as 2 hours) because you have more control over the liquid sanding process and won't accidentally remove too much paint if it is very dry.
5. Follow the instructions by applying blob eliminator to t-shirt material wrapped tightly around the plastic card. Rub back and forth lightly until there is no paint outside your paint chip/scratch area and the "blob" is slightly below the level of the rest of the car's paint. There should be a dent where your chip/scratch was. If not, rub a little more until you have a slight dent that has your paint color.
6. Shake up your clear coat. Using your toothpick apply clear coat to your chip/scratch. Come back in an hour. If there is still a dent: apply more clear coat until you have a good "blob".
7. Come back the next day and use your blob eliminator. Check your progress by periodically using a clean cloth to wipe away the haze that the blob eliminator produces. Use strong lighting to check that you remove enough of the blob to make it flat; but, not so much that you now have a dent (which can be fixed easily by another application of clear coat!).
Now, sit back and enjoy a frosty beverage!
Someone recommended this to me and to my surprise it worked wonders! This, coupled with the OEM touchup paint for my car, completely filled in and erased the chip. It was fairly deep and stuck out like a sore thumb, but the Langka system made it look brand new again. It worked so well that I can't even find the affected spot anymore.
Unfortunately, not every time after that has been successful. Since then, I've gotten two door dings, and a set of scratches from a stray cat that jumped on my car. The cat scratches were hidden fairly well, you'd have to get really close to notice an outline of them, but to the naked, unassuming eye it looks good. The blob eliminator didn't work on the door dings at all - I'm assuming it's because they're dented in so the card applicator couldn't properly work.
Overall, I'm fairly happy with the product and would recommend it - just don't expect miracles.
If you blob too much paint into the chip and go beyond the margins of the chip... It's ok, just use blob remover to take excess off paint surface. Wipe again with grease and wax remover and continue as outlined above. It takes days to fix all chips and scratches but if done right, they are virtually undetectable. Most poorly done repairs are beyond the paint surface adding to their visual patch job look. But if massaged down to the paint surface and covered in clear, they are as good as new. Remember the areas need to be cleaned throughly by both mechanical scraping ( razor blade) and chemically cleaned (grease and wax remover) for the new paint to stick onto the subsurface in the chip or scratch and waiting 8 hours between coats is important too. Do not wait beyond 24 hours to revolt otherwise the coats may not stick to each other. The new paints chemically bond to each other. Waiting too long to recoat may not allow the chemical bonding to take place. Go slow, pay close attention to detail, and take your time, and results will be almost perfect and a fraction of the cost of a repainted panel.
