Customers are mixed about the size of the utility jack. Some mention that it's big and heavy duty Astro quality, while others say that the keeper bolts are too small and don't have enough surface area. Some customers also mention that the included axle adapters weren't big enough for the cap at the end of the CV shaft on their AWD.

after a solid 45 minutes of beating my old rotors to a pulp (even breaking out the sledge), I was not only deaf and tired, but my rotors haven't budged at all. I was at a loss. I knew they had rotor/drum pullers, but didn't think they'd make a puller that could accommodate 14" rotors on a truck (or at least not cheaply, for a driveway mechanic to justify buying). I thought I was SOL and would just need to keep beating, spraying, heating.
I stumbled on this thing and decided to give it a shot. it was about half the cost of the OTC one, and I knew all 4 rotors were probably gonna fight me, so it was worth buying just to save myself the headache. I will say it's a little tricky to get on initially, especially if you're by yourself (a spare set of hands will definitely help). the backing plate will fight the tool a bit, so that's annoying to get it positioned. but after cranking the crap out of it with an impact, my rotor finally popped free.
few things to note - I needed to use the ratchet strap method (as advised in the reviews) for extra leverage, so be aware of that. don't waste your time without it, the tool will just pop off. also make sure you have a 1 1/4" impact socket to drive the pin on the tool (the inner nut can be held with an adjustable). lastly...MAKE SURE YOU THREAD THE LUG NUTS ON TO CATCH THE ROTOR. if it's really stuck, it'll fly off with some major force.
if you got a stuck rotor and tried everything....don't think, just buy it! easily saved me a few hours of hammering, heating, and cursing. it's also a very solid tool that I'm sure I'll have forever. I'll never be annoyed by a brake job ever again.
This puller fit over the drum, and between the drum and back plate. I did need a ratchet strap to hold it in place.
It was too far from the compressor, I used a 52” pipe on a 24” breaker bar to finally get these drums off. And not a scratch on the tool! I’m 260lbs, so that is a lot of torque. This puller is very well made.

I didn't even have to get out my impact wrench to remove the rear drums!

I did some research on the Astro bearing puller set and was satisfied with what everyone said. Honestly it’s an awesome set, and it eventually worked for me. It comes with instructions and seems to be robust, except it wasn’t working for me. Ughhh. So I called Astro explained my issue with the collar being too small and they sent me the collar I needed (xla) for free!!! It just so happened this set probably works for 99% of vehicles, the set I bought was the XL, doesn’t work for a 2003 sequoia limited. I actually have another car I have to do bearings on, so it’s well worth the kit. All in all for the price, simplicity, and customer service Im very satisfied.
