Nothing will ever be hidden in the darkness in my pantry ever again
I purchased my first LED strip a week ago and found out that now is the time to illuminate several things I have always wanted to do, but at a terrific price. After doing my closet with the first LE non-waterproof LED strip, I purchased two LE 2835 Waterproof LED daylight strips to do the bottom 5 shelves of my pantry. The results are even better than I could have hoped.I chose the daylight version of light to bring clarity to a search of the pantry. The motion switch ensures that they only activate when there is an active search in the pantry. I could have purchased aluminum tracks to mount the lights on my wire rack but the math of cost and the number of little pieces I would have to manage talked me out of it. Instead I opted to use some vinyl shade slats I had saved after sizing down a set of window shades to provide a mounting surface for my lights (otherwise I would have just purchased some vinyl strips from the trim department). Waterproof version of the lights is ensure that a spill will not end all illumination.Waterproof. This was my first waterproof light strip installation. I had to put new ends on 7 of the strips. I used some "proper" 8mm light strip to barrel(f) connectors. At first I thought I would have to take the waterproofing off the contacts... attempts at that were not going well. I discovered that sliding on the connector cut right into the waterproofing and made contact. I did have to REDUCE the thickness of the waterproofing by 50% for about 1/4 of an inch to enable the connector to close. I did with some side cutters.Mounting... I zip-tied the vinyl strip into the front of the wire rack and then mounted the strip just under the top wire for protection. I opted to wire each shelf independently and to put barrel connectors on the ends so that the shelves could be easily serviced. For wire management I used some panel end cap trim to hid a vertical run of the wires top to bottom. That worked out great since I just cut separate wires for each space between shelves and then used the barrel attachment to bond my continuous power feed to each level. I used some 18/2 shielded security cable for the feeds.I am early in their life cycle, but I have no issues with adhesive. In the closet I mounted on wood and I used duck tape to lift any loose dust before installing the light. On the pantry vinyl I used some alcohol and wiped it clean before the install. Time will tell. Each strip is 24W (2A DC) so I using a 5A DC power supply.We have left them on for some time to admire the visibility and the now clean pantry that we had to empty for the first time in over 10 years, paint, illuminate and re-assemble. The light strips themselves have the slightest warmth to the touch... probably less than the two light bulbs in the ceiling fixture. I don't have any worries about heating the pantry too much. I opted to not do the top 3 shelves because the ceiling fixture already illuminated them well enough. All in all it was about a days work to fabricate and install... That included thinking time and at least one trip to the store.

I purchased these lights to replace an old fluorescent light in my pantry that was on a light switch. I'm not an electrician or really much of a DIY'er, but for some reason wanted to do this by myself and found just enough info online to give me confidence. Our pantry has 4 L-shaped shelves. I cut the 16ft4in piece of LED lights into 9 sections, if you do the math then each is just under 22" long (one for each shelf ledge plus one to run along the top of the door). I used this transformer (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DKSI0S8?redirect=true&ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_3)...you need this to reduce the house electricity down to 12V for these LED lights or else you blow them out. To hard wire it, I cut off the plug from the transformer, separated the blue and brown wires and stripped enough to connect them to the wires from the wall where the old light was (blue to white, brown to black)...turn off power to your light obviously first in order to work with these live wires. I just used double sided tape to stick the transformer box to the wall. Then I started connecting the LED strips, starting from on top of the door to underneath the top shelf and working my way across and down (serpentine). I used these 3ft connectors (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008KPW2IK?redirect=true&ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_4) to reach from one shelf to the next, plus similar 6in connectors to span the corner of each L-shaped shelf. The trickiest part was actually using a razor blade to clear off the waterproof covering on the LED strip to expose each connector on the cut end of the LED strip (on each side of the LED strip x 9 strips!)...its the only way to get them into the connectors...and they are touchy! I thought many times I had a bad connector only to try and try again to clean up the ends until I got a good connection.
Now the fanciest part of this project: I used this magnetic switch (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008KPW2IK?redirect=true&ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_4) to wire it so the lights come on when the pantry door opens and turn off when the door shuts. To wire this, I cut the wire between the transformer box and the LED strip. I separated the red and black wires and striped them to make them ready for connecting. I just reconnected the red wires off the bat (you only need to mess with the black wire so if you can cut the cable without cutting the red wires, even better, but I don't know how you'd do that). Actually, polarity doesn't matter with this switch because its all about disrupting the circuit, so you can choose to reverse what I just said about red and black, and it still works. Either way, I had the cut ends of the black wire...the black wire coming from the transformer side got connected to the COM port of the magnetic switch, and the black wire from the LED side got connected to the NC port on the magnetic switch. This frustrated me immensely initially because my first switch was bad and I didn't know it right away...returned to Amazon, got the replacement...two days later I completed the project with a new functional switch. The wired side of the magnetic switch is mounted on the top of the door frame and the other side is mounted to the door itself....when the door opens and the two parts are then separated, the switch is activated and the lights come on.
The finished product looks and works great. Lots of bright light in the pantry and the light is no longer accidently left on all day.

This stuff worked awesome for my f250 bed lighting. First I wiped the underside flat surface all the way around with paint thinner and alcohol. Then I stuck the lighting down all the way around and wired it up to a toggle switch at the back of the truck. It could also be tied into the dome light circuit... which I also considered. My plan is to add a hinged contact switch that will atomatically turn them on when my bed cover is slid open.

I added some thick RTV sealant on top of, and accross the strips in the 4 corners of the truck to help keep the ends from pulling loose. We'll see how the rope lighting sticky stuff holds up in this Texas heat. I'm fully prepared to go around with epoxy at a later date, but I'm hoping this stuff holds. I'll update later on whether is holds or not.

I added a fuse holder with 5 amp fuse to my sub amp behind the back seat. This made an excellent easily accessible power source. There's a grommet 1 foot below the amp to exit the cab, the wire then runs between the inner and outer section of the bed. It re-enters the main section of the bed at the very back, top left where is connects to my switch and then connects to the LED strips. I've grounded to the bed at the switch mounting bracket.

2 week update: the adhesive has held up well in Texas, it's been over 100 degrees and still holding strong. I also tied the bed lighting Into my dome light circuit so it comes on with my remote, or with the doors. The toggle switch is also still connected. Very happy with these LED lights!

I was remodeling my kitchen and wanted some under cabinet lighting. I don't like the bulky under cabinet lighting most hardware store sell and I knew strip lights would be the solution. I took advantage of my countertops not being installed yet to easily run the wires. I got the waterproof version of the strip lights because I was using them in a kitchen. The waterproof version is protected by a silicon coating. You will have to cut away the silicon to make the connections. You can make connections by soldering the wires to the strip light terminals or use the two included clips.

I also purchased:
* A power supply:

* Extra power supply connectors:

* A inline dimmer (with remote control) so I could adjust the brightness:

Put these up in the back of the van as the interior light was poor. These are great, self adhesive too, which is really sticky too. Had the waterproof ones as get a lot of condensation in there. So far they are great. Not the brightest I've seen but I have nearly the whole role in the back and I can't complain.
