    Hello...

Just thought i'd introduce myself - wifey & I decided that we needed a truck as things were getting a little busy in our 4runner when we would head to the beach with dog, camping & kitesurfing gear.

To my surprise though, I thought i would have to trade my 4R in for the truck which would bother me a little, that thing is awesome, instead, wifey wants the 4R and is willing to give up her G37 coupe for me to get the truck. I gotta admit, i love her a little more because of that.

Anyway, we're in Central NC, spend as many weekends as possible in some remote part of the outer banks or in the mountains exploring waterfalls and hiking trails!

Welcome and good luck on your purchase. Are you gonna go single, double or crew cab?

Thank you! Having owned a couple F-150s and a couple of 4Rs, this will combine the best of both worlds, Trucks with Toyota quality

As for cab size, it's TBD - Double is favorite at the moment for me... more bed room for toys
Wifey prefers Crew - despite the fact we have no children, she claims it would be easier to put a baby into the back seat with all that room...

I guess whichever i can get the best deal on, not necessarily the cheapest, just a good deal

I have a double cab and my son was very easy to get in and out when he was a baby. He's 7 now and he just jumps right in. Plenty of leg room for him and adults. Don't let the slightly smaller rear door fool ya. Plus you get more bed room than you do on the crew max. My dad has a 2011 crew max and his bed space is sacrificed for the limo seat. :anonymous:

Welcome from CO! I had the DC (sold to @JC303) and I picked up a CM with a few extra goodies.
Personally, I hated the room in the rear with a child car seat. If you're tall and thinner build, it'll be easier for you. I can't grow taller so I chose to grow wider haha.

Check out my build and some other fantastic ones here for some ideas!

Welcome from CO. I definitely like having a 6.5' bed. Especially if I ever want to get a decent size camper at some point.

Hey Sean - tall here and def wouldn't describe myself as thin build... DC is winning at the moment. a) we don't have kids (yet) b) rarely do people wish they had less bed storage.

As for the mods - yes.. I can't wait to go down that path. I just spent the last 5 years building a 67 camaro and since i finished it a while back, I'm starting to offer to work on other people's cars as I just love that kinda stuff. Getting excited to build the Tundra to handle whatever we can throw at it sand dune-wise without getting stuck. We had some scary moments in the 4R but so far, never needed a tow out

Tell the wife not to worry. I have a double cab and I have 3 small kids (2 toddlers and a baby) and I can fit all three carseats in the backseat.

Too bad Toyota does offer a 6.5' bed CMax. It would be a pretty good size truck. Toyota would certainly sell a lot of them. A CMax with a 8' bed would be sick.

Thank you - it's fun for sure and was a labor of love. Pretty much every nut, bolt, drop of paint, stitch of upholstery and so on was done by my hand. No, it's not perfect, but I like it!

    Welcome from South La!!
Personally I love my DC. I do use the bed more than I do the backseat, plus the added bonus of under seat storage!! (Newer CMs can have this mod done though) I've fit 5 adults comfortably in the back, plenty of room without sacrificing bed length.
Although, later on when the wife and I start trying for kids, we'll most likely get a CM just cause.

Hold on a minute, how'd you fit "5 adults comfortably in the back"? There's only 3 seat belts.

With how often I travel and haul....I do prefer the crewmax rather than the double. The extra interior room is a nice piece of mind and more than makes up for the lack of bed space.

Doy I meant in the whole truck. 3 in the back 2 in the front. My mistake. :anonymous:

Hmmmm or I could argue that the 3 adults I got back there had the combined body mass equivalent to 5 adults.......which they just about did! LOL

W 3kids that's why I opted for the column shift w the jump seat, as long as my kids aren't like dad they will have friends one day and I may allow one of them to ride inside the CM

well... i just signed the paperwork on a 2016 DC limited in white with black interior - I pick it up on monday when then banks are open and i can get my check. Excited about getting back into a truck - excited about the blank canvas of possibilities - not that excited about paying for them though :( I'll post a pic or two when i pick it up although it looks exactly like all the other white DCs do so not that interesting!

Welcome from eastern CO! All of my friends have crew cabs of various make, so I caught hell for buying an "extended cab" for awhile. Then when a few of them piled into the back seat they had nothing to complain about ha.

You'll absolutely love that pickup. I've given mine a fair workout from time to time and she keeps coming back for more!

    Hey Zach,

I agree - crews are nice for the backseat but it's rare i'd ever sit there and i really wanted the bed space for toys. I've got a surfboard that won't fit in the crew bed but will sit nicely in the DC bed and is locked away under a tri-fold tonneau. Given that i plan to keep on buying more toys, bed space was more important than occasional passenger comfort... the most likely passengers are the outlaw family - and who really cares about them anyway?
