Wasn't there a forgotten clip or something of that nature that was attributed to what you're describing? Maybe ask the dealer if the windshield of this truck needed to be replaced before delivery. It's not unheard of for a person to accidentally strike the windshield with a pressure washer wand when cleaning it prior to delivery, happened to mine. Otherwise take it to a dealer, it's under warranty....

Hello, I am sorry for this question as I read a very long ongoing thread similar but did not help my situation.
So September 10th we received massive Rain Fall here I live in Lytle Texas "the Country" right outside of San Antonio. Well I was crossing right at bottom of Rim level in My Tundra, when a "nice Guy" tried to cross at the same time splashing a huge wave into my truck, The Truck stalled out, I have been fighting with the Geico, who told me not to move or attempt to fix well its been 2 months now and no resolution. I took the spark plugs out to attempt to force water out etc, but unfortunately there is no spark the engine is not cranking at all after 2 months and replacing the battery You can hear the fuel pump kick on and electrical components turn on lights etc but engine will not crank. Can anyone suggest where to begin? Due to where I live unfortunately 4 different "Diagnostic" guys have no showed on me and I def cant afford to have it taken to the dealership. If anyone can relate this has caused some major heartaches/depression and inconveniences as I live 40 min from my job and own a small business on top of that, over last couple of months we have taken in my wife's not so "fast" cousin his 2 kids so running 8 people in 8 diff directions everyday is mentally and physically almost in possible not o mention paying for a truck and oh full coverage ins that don't work. Any help or advice is highly appreciated, and I apologize for my vent session. Oh my truck is a 2011 Toyota Tundra Crew Max 5.7 ltr 305-55-20 2'' level

Crankshaft position sensor maybe? I don't know if the engine would turn over if this sensor is wonky or not. That would be a question for someone who's experienced it. I don't know exactly where it's located, but it's low on the front of the engine and I would think that it could easily get swamped and possibly create an open circuit.

This might be a dumb question but I havent had this happen in any of my chevy trucks. Is it normal for for the 5.7 to run higher oil temps on initial startup in cold weather? After I drove it for a mile or 2 the gauge went back to normal. Was just curious

CPS is on the back of the 5.7 drivers side. But that shouldnt effect it cranking. When you to crank does it click or do anything?

Grab a long ratchet and try turning the crank shaft by hand using the front crank bolt. Let's see how much water go sucked in. Sounds like it hyrdrolocked

First off, I am truly sorry for what you're going through. Also, I'm not a mechanic do I can't offer any mechanical advice. With that being said I know of 2 instances where the same thing happened, just recently to my nephew in his convertible Mercedes during Hurricane Florence. In both cases the cars were "totalled" by the insurance company. The engine sucked in water and hydrolocked. Can it be fixed? Probably. Depends on how much the insurance company is willing to pay before they just salvage it.

You're gonna have to raise hell with the insurance company if it's been 2 weeks! Be calm, yet persistent...be firm but not out of control and lastly. BE PERSISTENT!!! The squeaky wheel gets the oil! Good luck!!!!!!

@LOTSOFTOYS I have a brand new Tundra. When is the first maintenance service recommended? I've seen mixed opinions.

Maybe engine mounts? Is it misfiring? Hard to say man

Toyota knows about it and they are researching it. No fix for it yet.

Yes, likely a few hour job.

Have a very occasional issue where I'll leave a/c or heat on when I turn off the truck then next time I start I have to turn the fan speed up or down for it to turn on again. Can post a video if need be.

A question, I have a 2018 Tundra SR, I got the TIS Software and noticed my security system was not turned on.

So I went to Options and turned it On, then went back to Security and it gave me the exact same notice, that I needed to turn it on in Options.

Am I missing something in what I did?

I am not sure what you mean, but if you are asking when I turn it on does it stay, yes. But when I go back to security it says the same thing, that I need to go to the option and turn it on. But it is on because I already did it.

So strange, I turned it on, but it isn't. Does that mean I don't have something installed on my tundra? Or will there be something else I am missing?

    Thank you

    Rob

I don’t know if you found a solution but I’ll just chime in. I don’t know about the 2012 truck but the ‘17 seat has a separate yellow plug that’s only for the airbag but the rest of the plugs if many are for the movement of the seat, heat etc.

I just checked it, does not say anything about the alarm system. :( bummer

Now to find out if it can be added and how much or if an after market alarm system will be cheaper to put in.

In my 05 notice that when I come to a stop I feel a bump in the back...like being hit lightly by something. I read about this in years past, but I can't remember exactly what the cause was/is. I do know that the previous owner pulled something, what I don't know, because he installed a trailer brake controller below the steering wheel to the right. What's causing this slight bump? It shifts fine though.

I've had the truck for a month. So far I've found out I need a left rear wheel bearing. I plan to have the tranny fluid changed and I've ordered some NGK iridium plugs. The truck had less than 94K miles when I got it.

    Thanks!

Yep. My rear drive shaft has 6 zerks (double cardan). If they haven’t been done in a while you may need to clean the gunk off around them to find them. Use a cloth and small screwdriver to get in and around.

Ok this is a long forum and reading it all to find my issue is mind blowing. 2011 tundra has a Loss of power while driving. Almost like you shut the switch off momentarily and only a split second. This is rhythmic when it starts. It does not do it all the time. It acts like a rhythmic miss. I am also having issues with it taking gear when I first crank it. I put it in gear and have to wait for it to catch. This only happens every now and then, mostly when the truck is cold and only once when the truck was hot. Any ideas?

With a 6 inch lift, and likely larger tires, I'd wonder if maybe the traction control is intervening. I'm not sure what to offer on the subject of the transmission though....

I’m confused! Per my 2005 manual it appears that only 4wd Tundras have instructions on chassis lubrication. Where do I lube a 2wd driveshaft????942E6E39-9A51-4A23-B9B1-1851DA016D31.jpg
