As the title implies, have you ever had a vehicle you wouldn't take to the supermarket or a shady part of town, or a vehicle you wouldn't drive if there was so much as a cloud in the sky? What was it? What's the story?

    Post a picture!

1968 Mercedes 280SL convertible for me. It was black, and nearly perfect. I bitterly regret not enjoying like I should have, although I was pulled over for going XXX mph to a wedding that I was late for... had to go to the station for that one. I will have to scan a photo.

68’ Valiant. Rusted floor boards. Could see road if you lifted the floor mats up. All doors were prone to swinging open on turns so you had to make sure you were holding on or not leaning against the door going into the g’s.

Needless to say, the hand was always near the grab bar regardless of where you sat.

I had a '94 Nissan 240sx convertible that looked great from about 20 ft. away. Lol
Rust was the only thing holding the thing together.

This picture tells a funny story. My truck broke down or needed repair so much, that I would have it towed to Denver with a flatbed. Then, when it was running again, I would tow my flatbed up with my wife’s Tacoma. My love didn’t want nothing to do with that truck, so this was the only way I could get it with two vehicles.

Nothing where I was worried about something happening to it.

I had a '57 Chevy PU with a lot of HP but, stock suspension, that didn't like to stop. I WAS afraid to drive that one at times.

I take great care of everything I have so I wouldn't know where to start. I have a 2001 Ram Air TA That has 13,000 sunny miles on it never once has it been in the rain. I have a 1986 K10 Chevy pickup that hasn't been in the rain since it had a frame off restoration in 1998.[IMG] [IMG]

Never afraid to drive one due of fear of damaging it. I buy vehicles to use them.

But...I did have an old Ford that had a bad case of death wobble. I was really young at the time and didn't know what was causing it. That truck scared the bejeebus out of me for a while until I was able to fix it.

No, I’ve never owned something I was afraid to drive. Even the shitbox vehicles I used to own and drive were maintained and repaired to a decent standard of safety and reliability.

Company vehicle though... I’ve driven some sketchy mechanic service trucks. :eek2: Lately, I’ve also been know to refuse to drive them until _____ is fixed. And guess what? _____ gets fixed pretty quick when I do.

That's no joke. Some companies have 0 maintenance standards. I've finally got my boss to come around after I lost a wheel on a tandem axle trailer at highway speeds.

I have always been curious, is it 5ho, or Sho. I always assumed they were 5.0 liters, but I might be wrong. Guess I could google it.

Brand new Crown Victoria, '95 I think.
The transmission would downshift whenever it wanted, it created some scary situations.
Ford dealers couldn't figure it out.

I traded it before putting 5k on it.

No, I have and will never own a vehicle that I am afraid to drive because it might get scratched, dented, wet, etc. That would be like marrying a super model, and being afraid to consummate the marriage.

That's going to be sweet! How do you plan on finishing it out (Stock, modified, etc.)? I would love to do something like that in Pro-Touring style (Coyote 5.0, big brakes, modern suspension, etc.)

    What color Blue is that?

I guess there are two types of scared to drive. Scared to damage the car and scared the car will damage you.

The first I’ve never experienced, I drive my stuff.

The second though I’ve had a few times... had a 91 suburban that would run 100+ very easily. First time driving my first Mr2 in the rain 91 geo metro that I drove like the little race car it wasn’t so the body roll around corners was stupid scary

Plans right now are to go Resto-mod direction. I have zero suspension at the moment and will most likely do some kind of 4 link out back and who knows what up front. Still budgeting and researching (i.e. spending too much time on pro-touring.com)

Coyote motor would require me to cut the shock towers out and go with a coilover front suspension. Not sure I want to do that. I did get a, supposedly, '93 Cobra motor with the car. I doesn't have the GT40 heads so that's doubtful. Haven't had a chance to really break it down to see what I really have.

As far as the blue color i really don't know what the actual color is. To be honest, I picked this whole thing up as a "couldn't pass it up" project a few months ago for less than $3,501  and it's really not a priority at the moment. Just going to figure out the direction/budget and start gathering parts as I come across good deals.

Here's the motor that came with it.
