audio experts chime in ! :)

    @Netmonkey @Pudge

    hello,

re-doing my whole audio system in the truck. I still have all the panels out so I can change accordingly and rewire if necessary. Also Prime option I can send back some parts if it does not work out.

here is the current plan but I might change the front hence my questions :)

amp: Kenwood XR900-5 5 channels: 1 for sub and 4 for speakers.
    HU: Kenwood

rear: channel B: Kappa Infinity Kappa 62.11I 150W 6.5-Inch 2-Way Kappa Series Coaxial Speakers

front: channel A: Infinity Kappa 693.11I 220W 6 x 9 Inches 3-Way Kappa Series Coaxial Speakers with Edge-Driven UTF Tweeters

    subwoofer: Pioneer TS-SWX3002 12" Shallow-Mount Pre-Loaded Enclosure

all to be found on Amazon :)

now here is where i would like to add 2 extra tweeters in the stock 2012 location ( dashboard).

Infinity REF-275tx 135W Reference Series Edge-Driven Textile Car Tweeters, 3/4"

    they have inline crossovers.

what's the best way to wire them to the front ?

run straight to amp channel A but I already have the 6x9 Kappa coax there ?

i wouldn't call myself an audio expert.... i just have a really good attention to detail and i can follow instructions to the letter :)
the installation that i did was all plug and play and there were existing instructions.
for your setup, i would have to research how it all goes together and how to make the modifications to the truck.

yes usually people have crossovers for the front with a woofer and tweeter. in this case the 6x9 already have tweeter but i want to add tweeters up front as well so not sure the best way to wire it since they already have inline crossover.

could I share the channel A between the 6x9 and the dashboard tweeters since they have an inline crossover built in to protect ?

I had infinity kappa 6.5 components installed in front and rear doors. No need to replace dash speakers. Front door tweeter installed in door sail. Rear already has tweeter in door. Still use dash speakers for phone. Had my audio guy install so sorry can’t help with wiring but look on forum. This setup is not unique.

you probably have 6.5 components in front with crossovers/ woofer and tweeters. That's the other option i could have done.
The 6x9 are coax so they already have a tweeter but I feel i could add some small tweeters up front for better sound reverb on the window.

There should only ever be 2 tweeters in a vehicle:
    1 Front left
    2 Front right
    (I never run rear speakers)
    So,
Cut the tweeters in the coax door speakers and rewire them to the new tweeters in the factory location of the door sail. You can buy just the sails with the tweeters cutouts if you don't have them. Mount the new tweeters there and call it a day. Or easiest option 2 would be to just get a set of separates like @GNTundra said and do it right to begin with.

Dash tweeters facing up into the windshield is just plain wrong if you actually want the hear into what you are listening to.
    Just an OCD audiophile opinion.

    This!

6.5" components all the way! throw the tweeters in the sail panel and call it a day. Having tweeters in the dash make an odd sound stage.

I put my tweeters in sail panels. Xovers will power tweeters and woofers. That is their purpose. You will run outputs from amp to xover input and xover outputs to speakers. I bought my Kappas from Crutchfield because they came with speaker wire adapters and mounts. Are you using existing wiring with a harness for the amp? I am still up in the air whether to get Taco Tunes PNP or some other amp with a LOC. If I knew that sound quality was same I would just go Taco Tunes.

I’m doing the same. I believe those dash speakers will make a big difference. What I’m trying to figure out is how and what I should replace that rear door tweeter with?

looks like i'm late to the party. i put 6.5 component sets in all 4 doors and took out all the dash speakers (left, right and center). bought the sail panels with the cutouts for up front. with a little modification, the rear tweeters went into the factory location. i have a 5 channel amp that is doing 4x125 and 1x500. there's sound deadener on everything but the roof.

    thanks for the inputs.
i ripped the whole toyota sound system: rewired all the doors and dash, sound mating, amp, sub, speakers and HU. While it took some time, now I can set it up the way I want and also upgrade or expand later.
the stock toyota wires are good for up to 50W speakers..that's not gonna cut it for me :)

I thought about buying new sails. It made no sense to waste the money since I had a hole saw. Now if you do not have a hole saw and never plant to use one then buying the new sails is the way to go. To the OP. Tweeters at foot level do not cut it.

I got the Kappas with the copper colors trim on tweeters. No way was I going to add more chrome to the interior. Crutchfield has a good sale right now on some Focals.

well after receiving the ********* speaker adapters for the front. the magnets of the 6x9 were still touching the window track..back to square 1 and I modified the front speakers setup: scrapped the 6x9 kappa and extra tweeters and went with components Kappa 6.5.
thanks to Amazon policy i was able to return all extra speakers :)

    new config:

I'm going to do this similar setup. I'm wiring
the dash tweeters directly to the head unit. I have a pbr300x4 that runs my door speakers and a separate amp for my sub. The important thing to consider about tweeters is the cross frequency.. For the dash ones you want 10khz and up for those really bright highs. Most come with a 2khz to 5 khz. I want my front doors to be three way. I already replaced the rear with kickers 6.5 two way and love them. I have an Sr my rear factory speakers are worse than those AutoZone sells for $16 a pair.. Not kicking..
