4th Gen Tundra

I have been a proud Tundra owner since 2007 with the introduction of the 2nd gen. I know they call the newer models "3rd gen", but really what has changed besides the appearance? Does anyone have any legitimate information as to what is coming next for the Tundra and WHEN? Although I have loved my 2007 I am ready to upgrade to some new technology, but I just cannot see doing that until Toyota ups their game and actually tries to compete with the Big 3. My wish list is the following: +20 HP, +30 lb/ft, +3-4 mpg. Am I just dreaming, or can Toyota actually deliver with the "4th gen" Tundra?

 

Idk but I wouldn't mind an extra 4mpg for sure haha

 

When I bought the thing back in August of 2007 it was heads and tails above the competition (IMO). However, they have sat on their hands for 10 years now and let the competition catch up and surpass them. Heck, even the Nissan Titan is offering more appeal than a Tundra now. You can't always only play the "we've got the reliability" card, can you? Surely Toyota realizes that consumers are obsessed with numbers nowadays (more horsepower, more torque, better gas mileage, more tech goodies, etc.)

my 2007 5.7 dbl cab has 143,000 and still runs like a champ so I wasnt able to convince myself on a 3rd Gen.
What I'm really hoping for is the same as you +20 HP, +30 lb/ft, +3-4 mpg. (i think the mpg can be easily achieved with some weight reduction and an 8 speed)
but what would have me sold on one is a CREWMAX WITH A 6'5 FOOT BED!!! and an half ass decent remote start system.

ill bet everyone is waiting for those 2 things.

Seriously, I can wait. Meanwhile I just have to tolerate this truck that local mechanics complain about, the one that doesn't break down, haha.

I have that same problem. Nothing ever breaks, dang it. (But my turn signal fluid is getting a little low, need to top it off)

 

Haha, that signal fluid is a serious drain on my bank account.

 

I've got the feeling that Toyota is abandoning the Tundra because they can't seem to figure out what we want for improvements. They think cosmetic changes will keep us happy. In reality the only people they are impressing with cosmetics is the newbies.

I have had my 2007 in exactly (1) times in 9 years. Faulty battery was replaced year 2 under warranty I seriously have never owned a better vehicle. Just wish I had some more tech (especially a backup camera!) Crew max with a 6.5' bed would be perfect too!!!
