What tool do I need to remove this pin? Where do I buy it (store)?

I need to remove the doors from a huge, made in Mexico armoire so I can move it through a doorway. Looks like the metal pins that hold the hinges will just pop out the top if I can tap them from the bottom.

Can you suggest a tool that does this, and tell me what it's called so I can ask for it at the store? I have an awl but the tip is pointed. I can picture a leather punch being about right. But... is there any tool meant to do this, that I could grab at Home Depot or Lowe's on Saturday?
    IMG_4404.jpg IMG_4405.jpg
The pin is slightly less than 1 cm across.

Any suggestions appreciated. I've had to give up for the night, but will try again tomorrow.

Okay. I have a hammer. So I'll look for a punch set.

Punch or nail set. I've used a nail too in the past but obviously they bend easily. You can also use a hinge pin from another door.

    A little WD-40 wouldn't hurt either.

Hit it with a small screwdriver and hammer from underneath.

You can also use a flat head as a punch to get it out.

Spray some plastidip on it. Just kidding. Like the others said use a punch or nail set. Line it up from underneath and tap it with your hammer. Then grab the head with some pliers and wiggle it out from above. Do your bottom hinges first. Then grab or have someone hold the door when you do the top hinge to keep it from getting/doing damage in a fall. Reverse order when installing back together.

Tried but it didn't work, which is why I posted for help. Thanks though!

This is what I wanted to do to the damn thing:
But I worried about setting the house on fire. Then I thought of:
    IMG_4414.jpg

Instead I bought the set @Baja Mike recommended.
    IMG_4412.jpg

    IMG_4406.jpg

I didnt know which would be best to do first. Thank you for being specific!

Gotta get back into painting. I'll report back later when the hinge pin removal is complete....

Yeah. It's a nightmare. We removed the door between the bedroom and hallway; not enough width to clear. We'd already removed the decorative trim at the top sides of the armoire (because we remembered doing that to get it in the room), but no matter what we do, it's not fitting (but probably will when we remove the front doors). No renovation on the bedroom doorframe, so we're thinking the front doors of the armoire have bowed out slightly. If I look closely, I think I see that, but mainly I "know" it because we got it in through the same doorway about 10 years ago. So, logic demands that we can get it back out. Somehow....

Okay <deep breath> headed back to the mines....

No, not yet. Got the punch set today while on a paint supplies run to HD. Spent today doing final tape prep and first coat of paint in 3 rooms, including mentoring my son while he did first coat (I did edges and high up, but he did the wall from his shoulder to the floor, all around). He was into it, far above just not complaining, so we were pleased. Tomorrow while he sleeps in, I'll do final coat on these 3 plus the hallway. When he gets up (tonight we're all "camping" on mattresses w/o frames in the MBR), we'll swap attention back to the armoire. I'm trying not to stress about not being able to get it out before the carpet installation Monday (logic: we got it in; we can get it out).

Most flooring contractors have a clause in their contract excluding moving furniture. This being said, most installers will work with you, especially if you and a helper are standing by to move the items back and forth as required to install the padding and then the carpet.
Not a preferred route, but perhaps an option.

Additional note: the installer is never the salesman and in fact is frequently a 3rd tier subcontractor.

Back in the day when someone cut a 2x4 too short I’d send them to get the stud stretcher out of the trailer. That would keep them busy for a few. In your case, you may have to remove all your casing work down to the framed opening. Or at the minimum remove the stop casing which will give you 1/2” off each side for a total 1” (hoping its not a split jamb door).

Am I missing something that you can’t remove the hinges from the furniture? Put some oil or rust blaster on the hinge and soften it up, and tap the hinge out. Getter’dun!

When I was an apprentice I loved being sent for a lumber stretcher, bucket of steam or box of toe nails. I would find some peaceful spot and take a nap, like in the trailer of concrete blankets. I never got in trouble, just the smart journeyman that sent me on the errand!
