My son and I are having the great debate between the 2018 Platinum and the 2018 Limited and which one is a better deal. He of course has a Platinum and since I am buying a Limited, he is breaking my balls.

So the question to everyone here which trunk is the better deal and why? Would you go Platinum or Limited?

Platinum, unless you're set on one of the colors you can only get in limited/sr5 like cement or cavalry blue

You get better leather, cooled front seats, and color match grill/bumpers and you don't with the limited truck (rear gets color matched with BSM)

edit: also get auto dimming, memory, and turn signal outside mirrors. Limited doesn't get this.

Platinum...color matched parts and the seats alone are worth the extra money

Platinum! After 2 years of ownership I’ve never regretted it! All of the extra features most could “live without” are very nice to have. And the seats are incredibly comfortable. I’m not surprised so many limited owners here complain about their seats.

I've had both ... traded a '16 Limited for an '18 Platinum. No comparison ... Platinum all day! The seats alone in the Platinum are worth it.

I went limited mainly for the cement color, but I also felt like the limited leather was more durable looking than the platinum (can't be sure though). I also like the 18" TRD wheels better than the 20" platinum.

I like the Limited 20” wheels better than the Platinum wheels. It will be differet going from my 2017 Platinum to a 2018 Limited.

I vote Platinum. After owning two Platinum Tundras it’s nice having all the extra features.

If you can afford it and aren't set on a non-platinum color, like someone else mentioned, go for a platinum. I hardly let my wife drive my truck just to keep from having to mess with my seat settings, plus I'd really love some power folding mirrors.

I obviously sided with a limited. It has every option under the trim level. It's been a fine truck. No fancy LEDs or vented seats, but plenty of creature comforts and the 5.7 with the smaller, lighter rims to make up for 38g tank.

The additional creature comforts are always worth it, i have a limited and wouldnt mind having cooled seats like our highlander, and the power folding mirrors are helpful too along with memory seats, those are 3 things i wish i had. Color matching is bonus but with a little patience you can find all the parts you need to color match the truck on here vs financing them and are all super easy to install, resale is also going to be a bit better too since these trucks hold their value nicely. Either way you cant go wrong. You are buying a truck that was built to last and can tow a space shuttle hahahaha.

Quick edit... you can also find any of the oem wheels on here and on craigslist dirt cheap and typically are brand new... hell i matched my spare wheel for 50 bucks

The better deal is the cheaper one. The better truck is the more expensive one.

    plat :

    1. memory seats (great when more than 1 driver, the wife likes to sit higher and closer than me, big issue ... if you don't do your own maint. the service tech likes to move the seat)
    2. color match exterior (except for mirrors and door handles)
    3. seats are slightly better
    4. vented seats are ok
    5. only comes in 1 config (crewmax shortbed 5.7L)

    limited :

    1. if you don't need the above, this is a better choice

I personally think the Platinum is a better buy, I think a optioned out Limited is pushing $48-49k. So I think the ~$3k extra for the Platinum is worth it considering you get the following:
Color Matched front, power folding mirrors (I use these everyday parking in my garage), better quality leather with ventilated seats, memory seats, and I like the grey trim on the dash better than the plastic fake wood trim.

I am not a fan of the stiffer Limited seats, and I dislike how the dash trim on the passenger side, center console, and door panels basically look like an SR5 truck. I also think the "silver" interior door handles (on SR5 too) feel very cheap compared to the chrome handles on the Platinum and 1794s.

it sucks the platinum doesnt come in double cab. the short bed really kills the whole 'truck thing'....

the "Limited" is bare bones, like a base model when compared to anything else.

lol, I would hate to see what you think a SR5 is like if you think a limited is bare bones :)

I chose a basic Limited over a SR5 because all I wanted was leather and heated seats, plus power passenger seat for my wife. If you get a fully loaded Limited with the Premium package and sunroof you are damn near the price of a Platinum. My next will be a platinum but no telling what the Tundra lineup will be when that time comes.

I went with the loaded Limited because I wanted the off road package and preferred the chrome grill. The Platinum does not offer the off road package and I did not care for the wheels. The 1794 edition can be ordered with the off road package and includes all platinum options, but has a burnt orange interior that I could not get used to.

The nicer leather, ventilated seats, memory seats, and folding mirrors would be nice to have.

True, but if you think about it, the Platinum really is a base model high end truck compared to what the other manufacturers are offering in terms of features. I loved my 2017 Platinum but at the end of the day, the features offered for the price point are really minor.

I was looking at the Limited and Platinum, but those things I have in my cars already and this is a truck. So I got the SR5 with packages. Besides, it keeps my wife from riding in it and definitely from driving it.

Tundra is bare bones from what I looked at before buying. I have had Toyotas for a while and of all used trucks, Tundras are fewer.

My Platinum was only about $3000 more than a Limited with options. No brainer...Yes,the seats alone are worth it.
