    Welcome to the forum.

Couple things I would look at:

-brake assembly. Sometimes the springs get weak over time or just really dirty inside. In reverse the shoes can catch. I’ve had this happen on trailers. Sometime we get in some really muddy or dirt roads towing to our destination. I pull my drum brake assemblies at least every other year unless we get into these situations a couple times per year. Your drum brakes are auto adjusting as well, so this can be a compounding problem.

    - Check the parking brake cable to ensure nothing got up there and has tension on it.

Lastly, you have no rear differential cover. Toyota uses a 3rd member design and it is quite involved to “check” your gears.
I’ll bet you twelve one packs of beer the brakes are the culprit.

my dad pulled my truck back in neutral and it went fine but when i put it in reverse it still locks up. going to start with replacing the tranny filter and seeing if that helps if not i guess it’ll be time to drop a tranny.

This happened to one of my trucks about 6 years ago. Snap ring in the OD assembly sheared and the truck wouldn't move in reverse. The dead give away was the big chunks of snap ring in the tranny pan.

It's pretty tough if you don't have all the tools. I completely rebuilt the tranny to the heavier duty specs. I had access to a lift, and a hydraulic shop press and I have a ton of tools. If you find large pieces of metal in the pan, if you can pull the tranny and take it to someone to be rebuilt, that'll save some coin.

Well that’s a pretty good process of elimination. I sure hope this doesn’t get spendy.

Total bummer. I was hoping you had something easy and cheap like the rear brakes.

I owe you twelve one packs if your ever in CO.
