So I'm looking at buying a 2008 tundra TRD 4x4 Reg cab short box. I found one at a local used car lot the other day and took it for a spin and fell I love.

It's got the 5.7 with 6 speed auto and about 148km. He's asking $17k. I'm not sure if that's a good price or not because I can't find any other shortiesuggestions for sale in Canada lol

Is it a good deal? Any little things I should look for when I got it on a hoist? What's your thoughts ??

Welcome from CO. You stated the Tundra has 148K kilometers? Thats about 91 K miles. Not bad. 17K doesn't sound too bad either.

I recently bought a 2008 4x4 Regular Cab with about 95,000 km on it for about $20k (US). I don't think that it's a bad price. Funny enough my truck spent its first seven years in British Columbia and was sold off at an auction to a dealer in the United States. Aside from checking for rust on the frame and rear axle there shouldn't be anything wrong. The previous owner of my truck had some sort of thick compound applied all over the frame that protected it pretty well. The powertrain is amazing, brakes massive, and axles incredibly strong. Buy that truck; short-bed Regular cabs are awesome and they're not even made anymore.

OP, did you end up buying it?? I'm in Alberta Canada and I love my 2013 RCSB TRD OR you never see any around. Tons of power and the short wheel base is awesome, the truck turns on a dime.

I just got my finances sorted out. hopefully I'll get it this week... unless I find a Supercharged Tundra lol

I'm still not sure whether it's worth it to bring it into the local Toyota dealer and get it looked over before I buy it.

    What do you guys think?

It's always worth having a disinterested third-party take a quick look, whether it's a dealer or a shade tree mechanic you trust.

I saw that truck on kijiji. They're very rare. I believe it's the only one for sale in Ontario. I got mine for 13000$ and it's a 2012 sr5 with 120 000km. You can try negociating a bit but even at 17000 it's not that bad of a deal considering how rare these trucks are.

My truck was advertised at the dealer for 23000$ but it had been for sale for a year because nobody wanted to buy it cause it's just a 2 seater. The owner of the dealership is one of my buddies so i got it for 13000$ wich is a very good deal.

That sucks! There's not another reg cab short box for sale in Ontario or Quebec... You might want to check this one. kind of looks like a scam because the price is so low but if it's not, that's a pretty good deal. http://m.autotrader.ca/a/19_9210585?mnclk=1

That autotrader.ca tundra is a scam. But I did find 2 other trucks. Ones an 08 dlb cab supercharged TRD in fair condition and the other is a '10 TRD RCSB in near mint condition with slightly less kms. Both will cost me about the same.

Million dollar question is which one do I get ???

Cool as much as i love my rcsb, i think the dbl cab supercharged is the way to go. The dbl cab is more practical to carry more people or stuff and you can't beat the power of that supercharger.

If you don't need the extra space of the double cab I'd go with the '10 RCSB and save your money for a supercharger. A RCSB is rare. A supercharged RCSB is even more rare. Plus the RCSB is the lightest configuration you can get, so if you s/c it it will be the quickest tundra possible if performance is important to you.
