I say get the pro. I have absolutely no regrets with the decision to get mine. It's what I wanted from the first time I saw one. I got it while it was still possible to order one and was able to get a pretty good deal. As others have said if you want a pro then get a pro.

Have fun with that dealer, I went to look at a suv there, the salesmen are just vale drivers that bring the vehicle up to you to test drive so take your insurance card. I liked the suv and wanted to put in a offer, sales guy replied with “sorry we are a no haggle dealer like carmax” so no negotiation.

Not your typical type dealer, so can be good or bad depending how you approach it.

Also, I heard the pro chooses you, you don’t choose the pro.

I agree. For the price, it should look new, inside and out.

If you're willing to spend that kind of money, be sure to get what you really want and you will be much happier. I got mine 2017 SR5 and in the process changing things as I go. At the end of the day I love my truck man. The Pro is nice but whatever works in your situation. Good Luck!

Some Mods :) See build thread for details
If you get the Pro you could:
You could sell the coilovers and rear shocks for about the price of a 3" lift with great shocks.
You could sell the wheels/tires for a decent price and get the wheels you want.
Then your already set with the Pro grill, headlights and seats.

As we all know, for some reason Toyota did not release a 2018 Tundra TRD PRO. If anyone knows why, please let me know. So what I did was purchase a 2018 Tundra CM Limited with the Off-Road package, and then had the dealership install most of the TRD PRO parts. For my build, that included the TRD PRO suspension, dual exhaust, cold air intake, skid plates and shift knob. I've also since installed a few more mods myself, like the ARE z-series truck top, driver side grab handle, 33.5 Nitto Grappler G2s with XD127 wheels, and NFAB bars. Later this week I'm getting Bushwhacker flares in matte black Line-X, and also have the chrome bumper caps sprayed with the same Line-X.

I like the added features of the Limited trim with the TRD PRO parts. I really like the leather, sunroof and upgraded JBL sound system.

Most dealerships only get 2 PROs a year and others because of the value of sales get 6-7 PROs. it is really hit or miss. Best of luck!

From what I hear the main guy that developed the truck didn't want to move to Texas and changed company. Pro Comp paid him allot of money but he hasn't really developed anything for them. It doesn't make sense because I know TRD is in Irvine CA unless they moved as well. And other question is why didn't Toyota have anybody else on the team to take his spot. That 2018 TRD sport is a joke. I was let down with that option. I also noticed Toyota is working with Fox now for their Tacoma. Not sure whats going on with that as well.

Might be working on incorporating TSS? I figure with Gen4 they will bring I back. If my current returns in stock market hold up until then I might have to get one.

I would wait to see what the 4th Gen is gonna bring, just my opinion. Either way you can't go wrong getting a Pro or building to you specs. Good luck and May The Force Be With You:thumbsup:

Not to offend the TRD Pro owners, but now that I'm in the Tundra world and have studied them, I would not pay for a Pro. The Pro suspension is good but can be replaced by some very good after market suspension alternatives. The exhaust can be added, the new 2018 LED lights can be used if you don't buy a 2018.

If the TRD Pro had something that you cannot get in a Limited or Premium besides seat interior stitching and pressed logo I'd say go for the PRO. If they added a real LSD or lockers or more power maybe I'd be more impressed.

Sorry, I know a lot of people will disagree with me, but the markup on the Pro doesn't really justify a different grill, bed stamping and seat stitching. JMHO

I like the ARE top a lot. Perfect for weekend adventures with the family and dog. Plenty of room to pack up all of our gear and securely stow it in the bed. It also came with 2 rows of LED lights and a main light in the center at the rear, so plenty of light to see things at night.

Ted Moncure (The lead TRDPro Engineer) went to work for ProComp. He's now in charge of all their suspension design across all their brands. Toyota relocated all of their TRD department to Texas earlier this year. I believe Mike Jarboe took over for Ted. I don't know for a fact but I'd assume Toyota switched over to Fox for their pro shock package because Bilstein either no longer wanted to valve the shocks the way TRD asked or it became cost prohibitive to do so.

The B6112's are valved quite differently than the TRDPro shocks although they are identical shock bodies.

+1, some dealers do not know better but I think some do it on purpose to get people looking. Sales lady where I bought mine called Pros just TRDs. I started to explain the difference to her because she really did not know what a TRD OR was. When I showed her my TSS with the mods (grille, seats, and suspension) she said "oh you made you own TRD". Before I settled on the TSS I was trying to locate a TRD OR. She was sending me everything but a TRD OR.
