    Not exactly....

    GM manufacturing-

    Flint, Michigan
    Roanoke, Indiana
    Oshawa, Canada
    Silao, Mexico

    Ram Manufacturing-

    Warren, Michigan
    Saltillo, Mexico

    Ford Manufacturing-

    Dearborn & Flat Rock, Michigan
    Windsor, Ontario
    India

Why wouldn’t you build a product in the location someone is buying? You know, kinda like why the Tundra/Tacoma is built in Texas. Could you imagine the cost for a Toyota shipped from Japan?

I looked at no less than 30 trucks when shopping for my current tow rig. Not one of the stickers said Proudly built in Mexico/Canada.

keyword is "built". yes they are all built in the usa, but the part content and engine/transmission is not exclusively built in the usa.

on the tundra, part content is like 70% and the engine and transmission is built in the usa.

    Ford F-150 (tie)

    Percent U.S./Canadian Content: 70
    Final Assembly Country: U.S.
    Engine Source: U.S., Canada
    Transmission Source: U.S.
    ....................................................................................................................................
    Toyota Tundra (tie)

    Percent U.S./Canadian Content: 70
    Final Assembly Country: U.S.
    Engine Source: U.S.
    Transmission Source: U.S.

if i remember correctly ford (85%) is actually higher than the tundra in part content but all other domestic trucks are lower than the tundra.

most lists based on content, final assembly, engine source, transmission source usually the ford F150 is the only truck in the list and they start at around 78% weighted score for the criteria in bold above.

tundra sits at roughly 70% weighted scored and other domestics are lower than the tundra.

i think the chevy is around 45% part content usa but i guess since its still built in the usa that's what matters to most, even though its a skewed outlook.

    edit :

    Chevrolet Silverado (tie)

    Percent U.S./Canadian Content: 45
    Final Assembly Country: U.S., Mexico
    Engine Source: U.S.
    Transmission Source: U.S.
    ....................................................................................................................................
    GMC Sierra (tie)

    Percent U.S./Canadian Content: 45
    Final Assembly Country: U.S., Mexico
    Engine Source: U.S.
    Transmission Source: U.S.

Ok, so you said made, I said built. If we are being honest, they are not all built in the US either. Kinda why Ford has a manufacturing plant for cars in India. Why make them in the US and ship them half way around the world.

Do you wanna really compare all the top three auto manufacturers employed in the US and the money spent here? Probably not. I would be willing the lowest producer with is Ram has more employees....let alone Ford being the next, with GM being the biggest auto manufacturer in the US.

Most electronics is sourced out, you can’t get around that. If the Tundra had the extra “items” the others manufacturers offer, that number would be lower. Kinda like trying to buy a US made cell phone. Good luck.

Then we can look at share holders. Where does Toyota’s money go? Right to Toyota Corp in Aichi, Japan. Does this make me stop buying Toyota or Lexus? Nope. They’re great vehicles. Fiat/Chrysler NA headquarters is in Auburn Hills, MI (London England and Turin Italy), and would that fact make me buy a Ram? Nope, they are POS.

I get it man, I have all Ford buddies with diesels that give me shit for buying a GM tow rig. I just laugh when dropping or picking them up at the dealership to be repaired with less miles than my truck. To be honest, I don’t give two shits what others say and either should you.

yeah I tried the domestics randomly during my lifetime, but as I have gotten older I don't have time to sit in a dealer service dept. or on the side of the road, etc. As long as I do the regular maint. and other stuff, my Toyota's have yet to strand me on the side of the road for anything. I think the worst Toyota I had was a 1984 used Cressida with a faulty temp receiver in the dash that I could tap to flat line it or make it go back to reading correctly.

if the domestics were as reliable as Toyota (consistently), I would jump for a F150. a lot in the F150 I would love to have in the tundra, but reality brings me back to Toyota.

and now a days, no one can be 100% usa, everyone has to be a global player to survive.

That’s kinda surprising you had issues with your Duramax. I have a 08 with 300K on it that one of my guys drives now. Mind you I have put about 8-10 into it over the last 4 years but this truck has pulled a lot of trailers as well. Probably half the k’s on her are pulling. Had 11 dually (160k) that I traded for a 16 SRW. The ride isn’t as smooth as the Tundra which is obvious as you really can’t compare a half ton to a 2500 or 3500. For fuel economy they are 2nd to none and I feel that way about there reliability as well when compared to the other big diesels. Interior on the new ones is really sweet as well, way nicer than my Tundra. But for daily driving I prefer my Tundra. Tundra also seems to stay tighter over time compared to all my past trucks that I have had. (99 Dodge V10, 2001 F250 7.0L, 2005 F350 6.5, 2008 GM 2500, 2011 GM 3500, 2016 GM 3500)

That is exactly why I purchased the ol’ DM. Shitty DD though.

That is why it surprises me some people want a diesel option in the Tundra. The Tundra is a perfect all around truck that is just great. Needs a little refining.

I bought my 2013 Tundra new and added the performance mods at 50k. Since then I drive it like my goal is to make it blow up. At 110k miles now and runs like new. All I do is keep up with all scheduled maintenance and no problems. My only concern is the possiblility of the supercharger blowing up and destroying the engine someday.

I concur with the results. Came from a Ram 2500 to the Tundra. While at the dealership last weekend for my 35K oil change the service advisor said I was all set to go and everything on their 27pt inspection was green. No recommendations of services needed, no issues found, nothing. I'm still getting used to this :woot:My Ram 2500 was purchased new and in the shop 17 times when I finally dumped it at 54K miles. Lesson learned.

I’ll only buy Toyota and Lexus for myself. The wife wanted something larger than either brand offered, so I bought a comprehensive ‘service plan’ for as long as she’ll own the vehicle. The GMC we had before was garbage. I shoulda burned it and shot it up to release my frustrations with it.
