My grandparents are getting ready to sell their ‘99 roadtrek 200 popular.
i’ll get better pics tomorrow, but i’m thinking about bringing it home & fixing all the little niggles its developed over the years.

i can get better pics, but will say it’ll need better wheels & paint (?gelcoat?) to fetch top dollar. Or get set on a 4x4 douchemax chassis… just looking for a real ballpark figure, not with a dealer tax or someones asking price for a neglected project. I mean, id feel like i would be robbing em at $20k, but these are way above my pay grade. I camp in my truck with almost $1k worth of stuff.

i’m gonna fix those godawful wheels, too.

How many miles on it? Does the heater, fridge, sink, and shit work? Is that a 1500?
20k seems about right to me for grandpa’s hand me downs, but maybe my grandpa spoiled me.
In the tall sided, standing height van era, 20k can get you started with a more modern van if you are already planning on fixing and upgrading some components.

Its not for sale yet, i’ve got first dibbs & might know someone that needs it. It doesnt fit me right, i wouldnt buy a factory built rv. And as much as a van with a flatbed on a schoolbus chassis would rub me right, this van has too much fiberglass, and i can make what i want out of someones neglected project, just wanna get them more than whatever they’d get from camperworld.

i’ll get milage tomorrow, its a 3500, everything works, but the fuel line to the generator seems to be kinked. Its not the filter & it runs off a portable can set on the ground. Easy fixes. Wanna check the bushings & add fresh fluids. Also wanna set it up with a rowdy battery so the generator isnt always needed. Everything works on shore power & on the generator. I got 16mpg from houston to casper,wy & back. Its a vortec 350, so its weak, but doesnt mind being abused, especially above 7k ft. I’ve noticed most new campervans dont have showers, this has a central shower & offset toilet. I wanna say its like 9500lbs with fresh water & no grey/black. Its either a pair of twin beds in the back, or you add the table to make a full width bed.

New plan, grandpa said a seperate fuel tank for the generator would be fine, and grandma & grandpa are gonna follow me to merus & big bend, and we’re gonna camp bfe and they’ll haul my supplies out, so i can carry rock to build a noise wall around a home generator they plan to buy. Might try to catch the chili cookoff in terlingua in november or whenever. One last trip. Until they decide they wanna follow me to the grand canyon or devils tower next year.

sorry, i only remember to take pics at night, but i’m here for another week, and will get decent pics eventually. Gimme time, gotta remember before 10 am & it gets hot as satans anus.

i have some 8 lug 16” steelies i’m willing to buy tires for, and i havnt run it, but the only problem was the roof vent fan only running on low. Also got a leak in the water tank, but i wanna get a measurement to see how much of a water tank i can fit. It doesnt drip much, but when plugged into city water, its enough to make a stream down a residential driveway. Seal @ the water tank, but you have to drop the tank to reach it. They’ll be fine.
