Just brought my truck in for its last free service with 15,000 miles on it. Been having some shimmy issues when I get off the highway and would skweak when I come to a stop. I was just told that my rotors are warped and the pads need replaced.

Service manager refused to warranty out the breaks. Looking at over 700 to replace.

So was able to get my pads and rotos replaced under the TSB T-SB-0043-24 but I had to really fight with the dealership to accept it. When I first reported the issue to the service tech I told them that the breaks were squeaking when backing up and when coming to stops periodically. The service tech wrote down the wrong description and said that the truck was shimmying. Basically my local dealership was not going to replace because they claimed that I said shimmy and not squeak so that's why they didn't bother to look up the TSB.

Luckily the original service tech that checked me in told the service manager that they had entered the wrong description and that I did say squeak and not shimmy. They made it right in the end but it was a fight.

If your breaks are squeaking when coming to a stop or backing up, make sure to use the following TSB and tell them that they are Squeaking or Squealing. Those are the magic words. The TSB covers your breaks up to 3 years or 36K.

My dealer had no problem with my description and after a tech verified the squeaking they ordered the kit and are replacing everything next Thursday.
I had the fuel line recall done and mentioned the brakes.
Having the TSB printed out and on the passenger seat may have helped. :)

Did this fix the squeal? My dealer said Toyota stopped replacing because it wasn't fixing the squeal and they are looking at other options.

I would dispute this with your dealership. This is an active open TSB that affects 2022-2024 model Tundras. If they are refusing to repair or replace then you may need to take it to another dealership.

Picked up my truck and didn’t notice any squeaky brakes driving home.
I’ll see how it is in the morning which is when it usually did it.
Saw what they charge Toyota for the job, about $850 or so!
This is my invoice. Glad it isn’t what they would charge to have done off warranty…

Update. I installed new front rotors only at 20k. with factory rotors from Sparks. Reused the pads as they looked good. The rotors are now at 39k miles no shuddering super smooth. I haven't used the adaptive cruise as much the last 20k miles. I'll use it but not in traffic, more in open road situations like regular cruise. I swear going down a hill instead of coasting adaptive will brake to maintain speed but I havn't had anyone follow me to confirm. Everything else the same. Either adaptive cruise is partially at fault for over braking or else the original rotors were lower quality.

Does Sparks still have a discount code? I need to order some stuff, but couldn't locate anything.

I feel like this is solely a driving habit thing. I get over 100k miles out of brakes, regardless of the vehicle. Dudes need to learn to coast......if you are always on the gas or brake you are going to destroy your vehicle. And I tow quite a bit.

As an FYI, T-SB-0043-24 is now OBSOLETE and T-SB-0022-25 has replaced it. The only change is that the 2025 model year is now included.

I only got 20k miles but my Toyota shop says that rear brake pads are almost gone and need replacing. I do use self driving once in a while.. Maybe couple times a month on the highway.

I drive pretty mellow and don't brake hard at all.. So this may some sort of defect that rear pads need to be replaced, and not front pads which usually the ones to go first because they work harder.

Doesn't seem to matter if trying to be light on the brakes. Oh and your truck is hybrid so your brakes will be saved by the regeneration system
