To Flare or not to Flare, that is the question...

I need to start off by saying how amazing everyone on Tundras.com is.

As I was getting my wheel/tire issue addressed yesterday at Discount Tire, I was jumping back and forth to the feedback and comments members left and it helped me make a smart decision. So Thanks Everyone!!!

Today’s post is simple, based on my +12 Offest, and the below pictures, should I get Fender Flares or roll my Tundra the way it is? I like the current setup but want to get the groups thoughts and opinions

It all depends what you like or what theme your going after. I wanted my truck to be sporty looking so I added the flares.

 

Need more pics to decide.

 

Truck looks good as is but I think as long as you are flush with the flares and not inside them it will look good w flares . Nothing worse than a truck that looks like it skipped leg day. I've got some bushwhacker pockets that I'm getting painted color match and put on in Oct. Should still have a little tire overhang.

I think so too. I will rarely take it out of the city so I am favoring leaving it as is. Just a little scared of shooting rocks

 

My only concern would be rock/sand spray, even from road driving. My flares are perfectly flush with the tire sidewalls, I think it's a good look.

I would FLARE UP !!!!...Unless you want rock chips down the side of your truck ?

What brand of flares are those? I am leaning towards color matches flares, if I do.

 

We put wide tires and/or spacers to improve the stance. Seems like covering them with flares kinda-sorta defeats the purpose.

 

I currently have 0 offset wheels, although I love off-roading and getting the truck dirty, it's frustrating after washing the truck and the sides get dirty from the tires kicking up mud and everything on the road to the truck. If you like a dirty truck, no flares, if you mall crawl, get flares.

 

With the amount those tires extend past the wheel well you will get sand and road debris chipping up the paint on the side of the truck. That's the decision making point, IMO.
Worse if you're in mud.

 

For sure. I need to find the best color matched Flares without Rivets.

I too am on the fence! i like the look of the stance but have a keen dislike of the rock chips! I am thinking of putting on a clear bra but that too comes with a price.

Do you like your paint? Do you drive through water on a daily basis?

If the answer to either of those is yes, get the flares.

 

I live in the greater Seattle area so driving in water is a regular occurrence.

 

Save your thin Tundra paint...add flares and correct offset. (12 here).
Paint chips really suck
