Had some 275/70/18 Cooper ST Maxx installed last week. Got to test them in a few different conditions over the weekend so I figured I would start my review thread. Absolutely love them so far. I wanted an aggressive looking tire that isn't too loud, lasts a long time, does well on wet roads and can get me anywhere I need to go and it appears so far that thats exactly what I got.

Looks: 10/10. Have already received several compliments on how aggressive they look. Pictures online don't do them justice.

Noise: 8/10. They are super quiet for such an aggressive design. WAY quieter than the Toyo's I had on my 1st gen. Even going 75+ on the highway they never got too bad.

Wet Roads: 10/10. I drove in a variety of different wet conditions over the weekend and they performed flawlessly even on fresh wet roads. A few times I actually tried to hit the puddles that looked like hydroplane material and they just weren't having it.

Off-Road: 8/10. I don't do much offroading, but I do have some pretty beat up dirt roads on the way to the farm. They handled great in the mud and they soaked up a lot of the small bumps and stuff that normally give me a headache.

Ride Quality: 8/10. A little stiffer of a ride than the Michelin all terrains that I had on there, but I actually like it better. I feel less of the small bumps and cracks in the roads. No complaints at all with the ride quality. My g/f didn't notice a difference either, and that's saying something.

Tread Wear: You Decide. Have now had them for 30k miles and have wore approximatey 7/32 of tread. I still have 10/32 left so I would say the tread wear is good compared to most agressive tires, but you be the judge as this is my first set.

Gas Mileage: Ok I Guess. As expected, my average mpg went down atleast 1 mpg or so.

Will update with several pics this afternoon whenever I get the truck back from the Bilstein 5100 install. It's been dark and raining lately so the only pics I have as of now aren't that great.

Updated with some pics. Really happy with how the truck looks after Bilsteins installed on middle setting. Slight rake, but still looks level.

I've had st Maxx on my taco for some time now, tread wear is awesome. Stiff rubber, which makes snow performance dwindle slightly.... great offroad tho

Nice! Is the taco your DD or is it your offroad truck? Luckily it never snows here where I'm at. My main concern was wet road performance since it rains quite often here in FL, and I was pleasantly surprised with how well they performed in that category.

Thanks man! What others are you looking at? I was torn between these and the BFG KO2s for a while but decided to go with these since I ran into a good deal.

Looking at these and KO2s atm. I like the way the Coopers look more though.

Those things look sweet! If I did more offroading than I would have went with those as well.

Had them on my Tacoma the past year. Good looking, tough 10 ply rating and they pull great.....couldn't get them to break traction. (Of course that was with a 4 cyl)

Look great! Plan to go with the STT Pro like Sean just did, however, keep bouncing back and forth because I think these would be better for my Ak winters.

Figured I would update. I now have 30k miles (99% street) on these tires and still love them. Tread depth was measured today at 10/32 which was still in the "good" area of the chart.

Original depth was around 18/32 new. Should be able to get another 10-15k out of these no problem. As of now I will likely purchase another set of these again when they wear out.

Looks like a decent tire. Nice review.

No issues in the rain for mine either. They're quieter (and lighter) than my old Toyo MT's as well

Absolutely Steve. Our roads get pretty bad here when it rains and I have still never felt like I was starting to hydroplane.

Any idea if st maxx 295/70 18 will fit with just a front leveling kit? It's between that and the 275/70 18 that I know will fit. And which in your opinion would be a better option.
    Thanks

You can most likely fit the 295s but will depend on rim offset, and there will be some rubbing issues that can be easily addressed.

Tread is a little too aggressive for snow. Best AT out there for mud. I had them on my Taco. We did not have any snow here while I had them. Tires are a compromise. If snow is main concern you might look at other tires. If it is mud and you don't want an MT than In my opinion the ST Maxx is best choice.

My Maxxs' are doing just fine in the snow up here in CO. Packed snow/ice abilities could be better. The Maxxs' can be studied if need be.

Wanted to update as today is my last day with the Cooper St Maxx.

Loved the tires. Little loud towards the end but always performed great. Ended up getting just over 57,000 miles out of them and could go a little longer if needed.

Toyota is doing the buy 3 get 1 free event this month so figured I’d go ahead and get new ones. Going with Falken Wildpeak At3 in the same size since the Coopers don’t qualify for the sale this time around.

Would buy the St Maxx again if they qualified and would recommend to anyone.

Got mine rotated Wed. Even tread wear. Lots of tread left. Had them for one year now. I think maybe only 9K on them but they get a lot of abuse up in the mts. Minimal rubber chipping off. My old Nitto Trail Grappler M/Ts were horrible about chunks of rubber breaking off. My STT Pro M/Ts way better in that regard. Cooper has better rubber compound IMHO.

I’m trying to decide between the Maxx’s and the wildpeaks and since you have experience with both, if price is the same which would you go with?
