    Hello eh!

Now that I got that over with for the rest of my life, glad to be here!

I have lurking for some time reading up on the new Gen3's and what their owners are doing to them if anything. I have really appreciated most of this information and the details many of you have shared with others. It sure helps doing your research to determine what works or not.

I have been buying Toyotas for over 25 years now and this is my first Tundra. I have had a few Camry's, a Sienna van, a Rav4 and recently I bought my wife a 2020 Highlander Platinum just before Covid hit. Got a great deal on that vehicle and we are very happy with it so far. We usually keep our Toyota's for 8 to 10 years and then sell them privately. All my vehicles are well maintained with very low mileage. The Rav4 is the next one to go shortly in a week or two.

Last week I finally pulled the plug and ordered my Tundra as a Birthday gift to myself. Do I really need a truck, maybe not but I really wanted one for so many years, so what the hell. My local Toyota dealership found one going to another dealership and was able to trade so it will be here in July 2023. It is a Limited TRD Off-road Crewmax in Celestial Silver with 5.5 foot bed. I got it for below MSRP and that includes the OEM bed mat in the deal. Very easy, over the phone and took about 30 minutes just the way I like it. Dealers fees were very reasonable and no sale pitches about extremely expensive dealer add on's like Cat protectors or paint protection etc. I guess it helps to know the sales Manager personally.

These are the planned KISS upgrades when I get the truck:
    • Falken Wildpeak AT3W Tires 265/70R18 SL rated: I was thinking of going larger diameter than OEM or E rated but decided against it for many reasons. I think the truck will be coming in with those crappy Michelin LTX Trails.
    • Undercover Armor Flex Tonneau cover: With the recent OEM/Bak Flip?? fiasco no need to go there.
    • Go Rhino RB20 Slim running boards: Going to buy these in the standard black finish (whatever that really is) and get them locally Line-X on both sides as well as all the mounting brackets. Probably will use stainless steel mounting hardware to install. I bet the total cost will be less than buying them with the Go Rhino's texted finish and will last longer and take more abuse.
    • Tufskinz TRD grille and tailgate letter inserts along with center console insert: OEM options are overpriced for what you get.
    • Talons Cat Protector: Probably just leave natural Aluminum finish. Some other dealers in our neck of the woods charging over $1,000 CDN ($735 US) to have these installed at and will not sell you the truck unless you take this feature.... nuts on that...just walk away!
    • TRD Aluminum Skid plate: The truck comes with thin sheet metal plate which is not really as skid plate but a splash shield.
That's about it. I will post more when the truck arrives and give some before and after pictures….and yes I plan to test drive the truck before I sign on the dotted line. Wish me luck!

    Cheers,

    Joe

Hi Joe, I think you made the right choice in color, that always seems to be the faster color! Welcome from Pennsylvania!

Thanks! I have been to Pennsylvania many times (West Mifflin). One of my previous company's manufacturing/assembly facility was there. Always enjoyed going, nice place and friendly people.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! Another upvote on your choice of color! And if you paid a penny less than MSRP, you probably got a good deal. Post pics when you get it.
