Supersonic Red

I don't see very many Supersonic Red Tundras. Any modded Supersonic Red Tundras out there?

 

There used to be a Supersonic Red thread here, but I don't see it in search results to link to it. I have pretty much the same rig as you. I did a chrome delete. Really happy with how it turned out. 1" Bora wheel spacers going on later this week and hopefully my Valhalla cat shield will show up this week too.

 

I like how you painted the bottom part of your grill. How do you like the hybrid?

 

Absolutely love the hybrid. My allocation took forever to come in and I bought a non-hybrid while I waited. So I have a few thousand miles on both engine options. The hybrid engine is a lot faster. I can't drive in sport mode in traffic because the truck wants to just launch as soon as you touch the accelerator. Every hybrid comes with the 12.3" digital gauges too. It drives like an always-on naturally-aspirated engine. No turbo lag since the electric motor fills that gap. Gas engine turns off when it wants to, but you don't even notice it unless you look at the tach. I'm really happy with it!

 

That's awesome. I was thinking about getting a hybrid, but I didn't think that I needed it. What mods have you done?

 

I did the chrome delete myself (except the actual painting). Was nerve wracking taking the truck apart when it only had 62 miles on it! I did the front surround, door handles, window trim, badge overlays, and rear bumper.

Doing the wheel spacers and cat shield later this week. I'm looking to add some interior ambient lighting next.

 

I did the chrome delete myself as well. Man, that was pretty difficult. I don't have the patience for that. Just installed a bakflip mx4 and full RCI skids yesterday. Also have king 2.5", total chaos uca, 17" Motegi Trailite wheels and 35" BFG ko2. Looking for some rock sliders, but not sure what brand to go with.

 

Looking good! I want to replace my pontoon steps before too long. Unfortunately, my wife says if I drop any more money into my really expensive brand new truck, I have to buy her a new car. So I just have to be subtle with my upgrades for a while!

 

I was originally going to buy a Corvette C8, but my wife said that if I get a truck, I can do unlimited mods, so that was an easy decision for me. She doesn't like 2 seaters.

 

What did you use for window chrome delete?

 

That's funny, my wife has been begging for a c8 corvette! But I'm 6'5" and I just don't fit in vettes (haven't tried to pry myself into a c8 yet).

 

3m gloss black vinyl

 

I like what you have done with the chrome delete, it looks like it should have come from the factory although some say they like the chrome. I wonder how it would look with black chrome? How do you think that would look? I'm not sure if they can achieve a black chrome kind of matte look, like the door badging.

 

I ordered oem gloss black pieces to swap. These pieces are freaking expensive though.

 

I think black chrome would look pretty cool.

Oem black trims are super expensive. I spent $80 on 3m vinyl and tools. It took me like 5 hrs to chrome delete everything. I'll never do that again.

 

Debadged, heritage grill, Wescott camera bracket, tailgate inlays, black tailgate handle, door handle covers, and tinted the windows. It's a work in progress. The next plan is to paint match the grill surround and the rear bumper.

 

Sonic Red Limited Hybrid 2WD checking in here with 216 miles 3 weeks later. This Hybrid platform is awesome

Let me explain how I handled the Vette conundrum. I got my wife to liking them back in '05. We have had 5 since. An '05, '08, '12 GS, '15 ZO6, and a '18 ZO6. And I have had the exact truck/trucks I wanted the whole time. The best of both worlds. Work on her. Even if you have kids thats why you have to have the 4 door truck. To the 6'5" guy its all about the seat adjustment. I'm only 6'3 250 but I personally know bigger guys that have them.

How well does the red AJT key fob match the paint color? From your photo it looks really different.

Close enough for my taste, but not meant to be an exact match.

 

I picked up my 2023 Tundra SR5 TRD Sport in Supersonic Red last week. The wife and I flew to Pennsylvania and drove it back. I've added OEM running boards and ordered OEM trifold tonneau cover. I got a quote of $700 to tint glass with XPEL all around, seemed steep at first but when I did some digging, I guess $700 is now a reasonable price. Love the truck, love the color.

 

It's a softer red and tried to get the shade best I could in the pics.

 

I received mine too, the color is not an exact match but I'm happy with it, looks way better than the original key and feels much sturdier too.
