Yeah, I did notice that and saw the template but it said engine cover. I guess you’re right because it is shaped like the plastic OEM plate that it came with.

I agree with the conflicts section too.

Well this blows as I have the TRD skids also…guess I will need to wait to see how this gets figured out.

I wonder…”Will other aftermarket skids have this issue?”

Would longer endlinks work better than sway bar drop down brackets?

If longer endlinks to the control arms works then you could leave the sway bar mounted in its stock location….in theory.

I’m not sure if the endlinks need to stay at its stock length for suspension geometry/functionality. But I’m assuming it’ll work just fine.

It's hard to tell just by the pics: It looks like the sway is relocated forward and not just dropped.

But, yes...you're 100% correct, if the location remains the same then longer sway bar links should work. It would be nice to see an aftermarket option (like JKS) that offers adjustable sway bar links with quick disconnects.

I just sent them the pictures and they told
Me to bring it in the morning. I knew something was off. I appreciate it. It was their first install so that is probably it. Gotta love this forum.

Kudos to you, sir. That's some hardnose investigative skills right there. I wish I was near my truck to confirm, but based on your photos I'd say you are 100% correct. My bad for just assuming the dealership installed this correctly. lol.

You know...I cannot wait to hear what the final resolution is. In looking at the new bracket from the instructions, it looks like this might actually be installed correctly. It drops the swap bar quite a bit.

The red circle is the original sway bar mounting point (or very near it). The purple area is the new block that gets installed and drops the sway bar. It looks like on the SEMA build, the sway bar is in the factory location...for whatever reason. I know the SEMA build was still considered a prototype at that point.

@Dark would you take a photo of the front end to see what your bar looks like?

It might be installed upside down, but even if it was flipped....I don't there would be enough clearance to above the skid plate. But, again...I'm super curious how this turns out.

The angle of that Sway bar end link on the SEMA build.. Probably why they added the sway bar spacer afterwards for retail kits.

Much better here. Looks like it installed correctly to me. Can you even take the TRD skid plate off without removing sway bar to do Oil changes?

You can remove it it’s just a pain in the ass in sure. It’s pretty ridiculous if it is installed correctly honestly I’m gonna be pissed

I spoke to the Master tech that did the install and we had the truck on the lift. Went through the instructions and showed me how it was installed. It looks right per the installation. He said the photo from the press release was more of a prototype because it showed the sway bar in the same location as the stock bar. The instructions also mention to cut the OEM plastic skid plate. He’s going to modify the TRD one so it does not rub. Long story short it is not really compatible with the TRD skid plate.

I don’t think any skid plate is going to be compatible with the Trd lift/sway bar drop at the moment. Sway bar is going to drop lower than my RCI skid plate from what I see

Maybe that’s why it’s “incompatible” with the pro. The pro comes with the skid plate lol.

Yeah. It's a real bummer. Mainly because most of us thought (right or wrong) that Toyota Engineering would've really put more thought into this. Even though I'm going with an Icon build instead of this OE kit, I still still high hopes for this.

Granted, I'm no engineer...but from my perspective the simple solution would've been to just include longer sway bar links instead of dropping the bar so far.

I recall seeing a video of off-road shop putting a combo of TRD Lift with After Market and one of the things they called out as crap is the sway bar spacers. They tossed them aside and were going with or making their own. Can't seem to find this said video now. :(

It looks like the spacer drops it down to about parallel with where I put that white line. So right in line with the RCI skid for a ton of interference.
the replacement sway bar ends that come with the kit also don’t look any longer than stock

Well I'm travelling next week so I'm going to drop it off Sunday. I'll get it back when I return Friday. They are actually going to flip it and see if it works. If it doesn't, I bought some 2.25in spacers that should be able to help with clearance.

I have called every Toyota dealer in my area, 3 so far, to get a quote for instal, gave the part number, and the responses I’ve got is that they can’t order the kit or they don’t do that type of work… so frustrating.
