Installed Bilstein 5100 shocks front & rear. Front set at first ring (0.85"). Attempting to get this 2011 Tundra off-road ready.
New to this Forum, so hello to everyone. I'm 81 and still offroading. For the most part I've been a Chevy / GMC truck owners for the past 65+ years, but I thought it was time to try a Toyota. So I just purchased a 2011 Tundra Limited, 5.7L, with 61,250 miles on it. It came with 20” rims, street tires and stock Bilstein shocks.

I wish to set it up for some “moderate” off-road driving – at 81 I no longer do the hardcore stuff. So far I've installed Bilstein 5100 shocks, front & rear, with the front shocks set on the lower ring (0.85). The 0.85 setting was recommended by my local Toyota Dealer – hope this was right.

Plans are to change to 18” tires and rims, with + offset so that the tires are within the fender wells. Tires will be BFGoodrich, size to be determine, but something like 275/70R18 All-Terrain T/A KO2. I will also be installing a shell to the bed of the truck, which will include tools, recovery equipment, camping gear, etc. I live out of my truck when on week long excursions.

Any help or suggestions in setting up the suspension, rims, rim offset and/or the tires sizes would be greatly appreciated.

One other thing. There appears to be an oil leak above the alternator (alternator is covered with oil residue). Toyota dealer thinks it might be a “cam tower leak” very expensive to fix. Any ideas?
