Hi there, I just purchased my 2022 Tundra TRD Off Road about 7 weeks ago, although I've been driving Toyota trucks for 31 years. I love everything about this truck except the bed shaking extremely bad and acting like it's going to fall off. Has anyone had any issues when driving down a bumpy road the bed shakes and makes a horrible sound? I can actually see it moving. Thank you

EXACTLY, but the dealer checked the bolts and everything checked out fine. This acts like it's going to fly off and earn its wings when I'm going down a bumpy road.

Check the bed bolts yourself. Mine were loose at one point. I think they got stripped

I wouldn't be shocked if the dealer didn't even check them. They pulled it around back and brought it back...yup, everything is good. I haven't gone off-roading, but I have not noticed any movement or vibration on normal road bumps, speed bumps, etc.

Can you by chance get your hands on a GoPro or something and upload a video? Cause I’ve seen bed bounce, but you’re making this seem awfully dramatic. Not trying to discount what you’re saying, just really interested in just how bad it is…for science :D

Yes, I have experienced that same issue. It is very annoying. I checked the spare thinking maybe it's loose, but it's okay. Thinking maybe it's due to the new suspension design. This is really bad as the truck gets older, the sound will get worse and bed may eventually fall off.

I’ve noticed a lot of noise when the crew max rear cab window is down. I can’t say for certain that the bed is loose or shaking but it sure sounds like it, or at least something isn’t secure in the rear of the truck.

Didn't the older models (21 and older) have the bed bounce? I've seen those videos but people are driving too fast over the bumps.

Didn't Toyota change the triple tech frame design to something new for '22? Shouldn't that get rid of the bed bounce?

I'd post a video I made of my 2021 concrete highway bed bounce but it really doesn't do it justice as to how bad it really is. The whole thing flops up and down visibly. I thought this had been fixed on the 2022 with the boxed frame. Is it cold where you live? Mine only bounces if the temps are below 60F. Getting my Bilstein 5100s replaced today with TRD Pro shocks since the bounce wasn't noticeable before the stiff Bilsteins.

The old Tundra does 'bounce' more; and yes, the new frame should get rid of the bed bounce - to some degree.

I live down a gravel road and can tell you that there's no such thing as a truck that won't bounce under the right conditions (though I'm sure you know this, LOL). My Tundra bounces a tad more on our gravel road; but my F150 bounced like *crazy* on expansion joints on the interstate.

Additionally, it's been my experience that quad cabs/CrewMax trucks are less bouncy than extended cabs/double cabs. Has to do, I'm told, with the length/type of the drive shaft, length of the bed, etc. I know it's been absolutely true in my case - the 3 previous extended cab trucks bounced like crazy whereas my CrewMax is smooth as can be.

The noise when y’all’s rear window is down is the window’s cable banging around inside the rear panel of the cab. Lots of trucks do it. Maybe you can get Toyota to fix it for you, but the manual says don’t drive with it down, so good luck.

You can fix it yourself: you just need to remove the rear seats and add some foam or felt on the inside of that panel where the cable rattles around in there.

My 2nd gen has a *bit* of bed bounce when empty on concrete seamed highways. What you guys are describing sounds like something else entirely. Get a ratchet and a T55 bit and check ‘em yourself. I just don’t trust any dealer to tell me things that are actually true.

It was around 81° yesterday and going down the road that bed still shook and sounded horrible. I'm going to put my kid in the back seat and get him to video it.

Yup, my 2020 with a bit over 8k miles ( and from the beginning) bounces and shakes like crazy on potholes and stutter bumps. I thought my spare tire was loose at first, but after doing research it was a pretty common thing.

I always noticed the bed "bounce" quite a bit on my '18. I haven't had my new Tundra on a rough road yet, so can't speak to that. I think some of the noise is from the rear window in the down position. I am really disappointed with that. The rear window on my '18 didn't have any rattle in it when it was in the down position.

I've noticed there is significantly more bed bounce going over large bumps comparing to my TRD Pro 4 Runner. Certainly size of wheel base and actual body a factor. I also think its a rear shock issue. I have a TRD OR Tundra and am on the fence thinking I will upgrade the rear shocks that should take care of additional noted bounce.

I've had people telling me that they'll do a shock upgrade. I'll possibly do that. 31 years driving Toyota trucks and this is the first

Read all the threads on the 2nd gen bed bounce. There's really nothing you can do to totally eliminate it. For me, the TRD Pro suspension kit helped. So does a few hundred pounds riding in the bed. I only experience it on seamed concrete highways.

Might be different for y'all 3rd gen'ers. But it seems that heavy front + our wheelbase + lightweight rear = some degree of bed bounce.

Ok, I'm already in the market for a leveling kit just a 1.75 up front.and I'm thinking about a spray on bed liner and bed cover. So maybe that will help.

On the fence with this as well. Did a one inch on the 4Runner and made significant improvement.
