What are the advantages of converting my truck from SR5 plus to TRD Pro? What upgrades would I have to add, besides grill, skid plate and wheels?

No advantage. It will still be an SR5. You’ll need the grill, suspension, wheels, interior seat covers, headlights, skid plate, the entire bed sides.

Looks maybe. I think the grill and wheels look great but there are a lot of good looking wheel options.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! It might add some capability or change the ride, but the truck will still be considered an SR5.

Ok. I really interested in making sure it performs well off road. We’ve had some recent heavy snows in KY and it did great. No slipping and pulled through some drifts of 10-12 inches. But off road is a different beast. Changing the suspension up a little may give it an advantage. I seen a lot of different mods in that department and hoped to get someone’s experience with it.

Oh and thanks for the welcome.

+1 on the suspension. If you’re interested, I just took the factory Fox pro suspension off my truck yesterday. Has 17k miles on them and in great condition.

    Pro suspension, sways
The Pro suspension and Pro dual exhaust are the only real major performance advantages for the Pro, everything else is esthetics.
When the TRD PRO was first released, it was a SR5 trim with the PRO upgrades. The only thing unique has always been the bed side stamps. I went the Platinum-PRO way myself... best of both as @bensky stated before.

Thanks. That is exactly the info I was looking for. One more question. Am I correct in thinking that 275/70R18 tires will fit without rubbing? I have 255/70R18 on it now. I want to go with all terrain versus the all weather.

The two main things that you’ll need to get started would be to color match everything and then get TRD pro FOX suspension. Then the grill, headlights, fog lights, shift knob, skid plate and wheels. Forget the bed stamp. It’s a pricey endeavor but in my opinion kind of worth it if you have the interior features that you can live with for quite a while. You will gets leveled truck that is capable off road and looks and rides great. You can probably get away with paying less for the suspension but then they won’t truly have PRO features. I turned my platinum into a pro and I love the thing and plan on keeping it a long time and I’m very happy with the results.84DFA97F-73B9-40CF-80A2-FB22666C603E.jpg2C9A6C10-D541-472C-8735-79B2D4BC098F.jpg 224BDAE1-4E8E-469C-8D4E-986B1A2894FF.jpg

    Truck looks great!
Can I ask about the grill swap? I’m sure you have radar up front, did you need anything special to accommodate for that? I have a limited and want to go pro grill.

If you have radar buy the Pro grille that is built for radar '19 and up. If you like the earlier pro grille like what @TundraLLama has, you will have to do a sensor relocation. Search the forum, multiple ways to do this.

It’s a 2015. No radar. It was a simple swap.

In the city: bumps on the highway, and bed bounce are greatly reduced. The ride is a lot softer and less jarring. The cons to that? It leans like hell in the corners because the suspension has so much give. I added a TRD sway bar for a while which fixed that, but greatly affected smooth ride quality. I took it off and just go slower in the corners. The Pro suspension levels the truck and eliminates most of the rake.

Off road: I do a lot of old logging and forest roads. The ride is less jarring and I can take medium holes and bumps at speed. In fact, it seems to handle better the faster I go. I was actually doing about 65 MPH on a logging road, ran over a stick on the road and shot it thru my rear bumper. The OEM Michelins fling rocks like you would not believe.
