so hybrid only, no TRD OR, and no 6.5 bed. I'm out. Also not a fan of that 2 tone interior. I prefer my 1794 that doesn't exist yet.

Is the colour HUD exclusive to the Capstone? Or are all of the new HUDs colour?

Toyota has a redesigned Tundra on sale for 2022, and on Tuesday the automaker revealed a new premium grade called Capstone.

The Tundra Capstone comes with many of the full-size pickup's available features as standard, plus a few exclusive items. It also comes standard with the Tundra's more powerful i-Force Max hybrid powertrain, good for 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque, a max payload of 1,485 pounds, and max towing of 10,340 pounds.

Toyota calls the Capstone the “halo” of the Tundra range, and as such it comes with goodies such as 22-inch wheels, two-tone leather trim, powered running boards (and bed step), a unique grille design, and open-pore wood accents all as standard. A panoramic moonroof is also standard, along with acoustic glass which is a feature unique to this grade.

The Capstone also comes with the Tundra's top tech features like a 14-inch infotainment screen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10-inch color head-up display, and the Towing Technology Package. The infotainment system supports voice activation, as well as Apple CarPlay (wireless) and Android Auto. The standard audio system is a 12-speaker setup from JBL.

The Capstone is offered in the one body configuration: CrewMax with a 5.5-foot bed. The Tundra's adaptive dampers and load-leveling rear height control air suspension are available.

The Tundra Capstone goes on sale this spring. Pricing will be announced closer to the market launch but expect a hefty premium on the 2022 Tundra's $37,645 starting price.

Whatever this forum told me to do
not a fan of $80k 1/2 ton pickups.

it would need to have a Cummins or a HO v8 or HO V8 hybrid.

a fancy truck is all hat, no cattle.

To each their own. I never understood the ultra luxury pickup thing. The SR5 has more than I’ll ever need. Always thought the Platinum and 1794 were already pretty plush.

Whatever this forum told me to do
they are plush...but I drove it off the lot for 54k in 2020.

I put 15k in it. 90% is the Harrop.

    even then...I'm @ $69k

figgerin' here....if the Capstone is ~$80k.....the LX600 Luxury will probably be ~$120k....yikes.

Agreed. Sadly, there’s a market for that kind of truck and I imagine a greater margin for Toyota. Not high volume but high margin.
I think it’s hilarious that at least the windchill pearl model shown doesn’t have the chrome moustache. Of all of them, you’d think the highest trim with all of its other chrome would have it. LOL

22 inch wheels...I will pass on that one. I wish the 2022 had more 18 inch wheel options...

That's it? A blinged-out platinum with more chrome, joker seats and 22" chrome wheels to ruin the ride? Really? Where is the value proposition above the Platinum? Unless you really, really like chrome, what's difference? Two-tone seats?

My guess (just a guess based on the features) is that the price is a few thousand more than a loaded hybrid 1794, or around $69k-$72k

FS half-ton trucks and SUVs generate 25% profit for the manufacturer. It's why the Big 3 lean so heavy on trucks and SUVs.

Toyota stands to make at least $20k in profit, per truck. I'm not talking about the dealership, this is what the manufacturer can rake in.
Whereas they probably get about $600 for every Corolla.

Chip shortage isn't letting up, but I bet we see Toyota will prioritize Tundra production because of the 25% margin.

I'm thinking they'll continue to prioritize the Rav4 Prime but I honestly have no idea. I'd assume its all a numbers game. Multiply the margin per vehicle by the vehicle sales and see what you get. If I recall, the Rav4, Tacoma and Corolla were high volume sales in the US. However, it rarely gets mentioned on this forum but Toyota is the world's largest automotive manufacturer. The US is just one of their markets. The Tundra is only available in North America. It isn't as important to Toyota Corp as some of us think it is. As long as the average personal wealth of the Chinese continues to increase, it will forever alter where global vehicle manufacturers, like Toyota, spend their RND dollars. I think some of you may need to wrap your head around the fact that the North American market is part of the global market and that your personal needs are becoming less and less of a factor.

It looks nice just not my style. I think at the end of the day a truck is a truck and would prefer not to have all the extra luxury. If I was going to pull the trigger on an expensive luxurious truck I’m going for a Denali.

clearly not marketed to most of us given the percentage of people on this board who want less chrome and not more. 22" wheels... o_O. Chrome 22" wheels...

Well, aside from the people on this board, there must be a lot of people out there who really like chromed up bling. Toyota takes the RR/Maybach route of lots of chrome and two-tone == money. Those aren't marketed to me either... lol.

This looks like it's for the guys that don't actually need a truck, but feel like they need a truck to look manly.
