Hey guys, looking to take delivery of a new 2017 Tundra SR5/TRD Off Road today/tomorrow in MGM. I'm trading in my '16 Taco for better towing and comfort. The Taco has several things to check before delivery (tranny fluid levels, rear end, etc.). How about the Tundra?

Look forward to participating in the forum.

    Mike

What I always require is that they balance all the tires again and do an alignment. They always counter that it is done at the factory before it leaves. I still insist upon it. I have owned 9 new vehicles over the years and each time it was off. My current truck which is 5 months old today, it was off by a fair amount. It completely surprised the service manager when we looked at the report. It may very well had been done at the factory but when they are chained down on the transport trucks, when the torque the chains down, it will mess it all up.

I would check the paint for any dings, scratches or swirl marks. Make sure everything is working. I've bought vehicles in the past where something like a radio isn't working right. I make them fix it before I sign on the dotted line.

Someone on the F150 forum made a list of all the common issues they should check before taking delivery on their brand new F150. Luckily you have a Toyota. :D

Not something to check but I had my sales guy tell the service guys to not clean it and hold off drilling the front bumper for plates. I'd rather clean it myself and know it was done right, and not having front plates is a secondary infraction in my state so I saved myself the holes.

If your truck had a blue oval on it's forehead, it would probably frown too. :p

I know it was part of the sales process, but I took her home on a Saturday morning, drove it around all day, finished the 'deal' Saturday evening and signed the papers on Monday. This way, I had all weekend to check things out and make sure everything worked in a casual setting vs. being pressured at the dealership.

UPDATE: Almost forgot...I also made sure it fits in the garage!

This may sound crazy but when I picked up my 2017 Platinum last weekend I popped the hood and noticed the coolants were damn near empty. I then checked the oil and it was low. The General Sales Manager was so embarrassed he took the truck back into the shop and topped off everything and re-detailed the car. He also gave me free OEM all-weather mats.
