I'd love to have a thread dedicated to those of us just shopping for the 2022 Tundra SR5 TRD Sport DC 4WD.
I'm looking for my next tow vehicle and I'm pretty sure this is the model for me. Check out this video I found.
Stupid question, but are those the power extendable tow mirrors?
And, was anyone else surprised that the DC has a small power rear window? I'd never seen a review mention or show that feature before.
I know many of you hate them, but I gotta say that I really like the White SR5. No chrome. Colour matched; front grille, door handles, rear bumper, mirrors and fender flares.

Am I a complete idiot or can you NOT get an SR5 TRD Sport Double Cab (NOT Crew Max) 6.5' bed in Canada?
I can't select the SR5 package and the TRD Sport package. The only Double Cab SR5 available is the 8' bed. Unless I'm incorrect, you have to go up to a Limited to get a Double Cab 6.5' bed.

Let me preface my question by saying I have no idea how international car buying works.

That being said, could you not just purchase the truck in the US and drive it across the border? Or, is there a requirement in Canada that you have to purchase it there? I know in the US you can't really (not without a ton of cash & paperwork, at least) import anything less than 25 years old.

What options or accessories did you add to your SR5 other than the TRD Sport Package?

Here in Canada we can select the SR with the TRD Sport Package, which comes with the SR5 Package that includes the; 122L (32 US gal) tank, brake controller, heated seats and steering wheel, plus the 389hp iForce engine. Do you have anything in addition to these items, that could possibly impact payload?

Thank you very much! Looks like I found the only possible build that would suit my needs and give me the highest payload (1500 lbs)

A Canadian SR TRD Sport (this includes everything in the SR5 Package) DC 4WD 6.5' bed in MGM, with all weather floor liners. I'd add rock rails and a soft rollup tonneau afterward. Maybe tow mirrors.

1500 lb payload is less than I had hoped for, but I might be able to make it work. So, the 2022 Tundra is staying on my list of potential tow vehicles for our next trailer.

    I still can't believe there's nothing between 1555 and 1940!

Easily the best option package in terms of features and value. I hope one shows up at my dealer soon.

In the States, the full size power rear window is only available in a CM configuration. I frankly love that feature so much that I wouldn't buy a Tundra without it.

I agree that the Sport looks best.

Another SR5 DC 4WD 6.5' bed with a 1500 lb payload. Looks like it has the American Technology and Convenience Packages.

    Very nice truck.

Notice how they have the front seats not all the way back. It shows how much room the back has when you need to temporarily transport adults in the back.

Yes, that was good to see. I'd like to know how easy it would be to remove the back seats entirely. We like the in-cab storage space with our 2012 Tacoma DC and the way they fold down is very versatile. However, we rarely, if ever, have anyone riding back there. Would be the same if we switched to the '22 Tundra but the back seat positioning isn't as versatile.

Yeah even in that video the seats are almost all the way back. I saw a post on the facebook group of a guy who is 6'1" sitting in the back with the drivers seat set comfortably for his height and there was room in front of his knees. Could of moved the seat forward more if needed. He was coming from a gen2 DC and said it was slightly smaller which lines up with the specs. The people saying that the Gen3 DC is WAY smaller and completely useless, I'm not buying it. I still need to see for myself but I think most people see these youtube videos where the majority of the front seats are pushed all the way back and yeah its gonna look tight in the back in those cases and they base their comments on that.

Or they're coming from a CM, and I get that. But, for those of us coming from, or happy with, a DC, I think it'll meet most of our needs.

Saw my first 2022 Tundra IRL today at a local dealer. Nicely specced Off Road model, I am surprised it wasn't presold. Now I am playing with the configurator and like the OP, I am puzzled by the limitations. If you get a certain package in a certain trim, for instance, then you can only get this exterior color or that interior color. No double cabs in Platinum or 1794, etc. I am sure I can come up with a suitable combination but I am also certain I'd get something different than what is available if it were available. I wonder if some of these limits are temporary due to paint and interior runs or if they will be permanent? If I had my way I'd like an SR5 Sport double cab (not CrewMax) 6.5 bed with advance package and sunroof. There is a decent tech package "with options" but not quite there. Also looks like you can't get a sunroof at all in a SR5 Sport. And for a Limited trim you can only get the best tech package with a Silver exterior.... which I am not fond of due to the contrast with that yuge black grill. For a mag gray Platinum trim you need to get the brown interior with the advance package. Sheesh. I am not in a hurry anyway. Not sure I want one of these yet.

Buddy is telling me that the payload on this truck is 1789 lbs. From the door jam stickers. I don't see how that's possible based on the pictures of door jam stickers that have been posted here.

I still prefer the TRD sport premium but I might be swayed by a DC Limited TRD O/R.

Saw one in celestial silver and it looked handsome. The chrome grille frame looked decent with that colour.
