Is that going to be their method for the entire run of the 3rd Gen or is this just a stop gap until they can get production running steady and any supply chain issues sorted out?

That just sounds like a dealership with extra steps.

I don't know? I hope it doesn't continue. But other companies are employing a completely different method while still dealing with the same sort of issues. Seems like just laziness on Toyota's part; not wanting to take the time, work, and effort to make it a more enjoyable customer experience.

Sure, some of these new startup companies are trying new sales methods but it's not like Ford, GM and Mercedes are all eliminating dealerships and leaving Toyota as the only manufacturer that still uses them.

Yeah, but I'm not shopping Ford, GM and Mercedes so I don't care about their processes. I am shopping Toyota, and I love the company so when I see other 'start ups' taking the initiative and doing things outside the box it makes me feel like I said: Toyota looks like it's being lazy, especially with the rollout of the Tundra in a sort of 'take it or leave it' mentality in comparison.

Home chargers arent FAST chargers like which are available at a dealership. It’ll take 12+ hours for a home xharger to put. a meaningful charge in a trucks battery.

I watched a video (I'll try and find the link later) where it went over some quirky things they noticed on the new Tundra.

The light bar on the Pro was only able to be turned on when your high beams were on.

    What say y'all?

I texted my local dealer who may be the largest one in my state. If not pretty dang close to it. They told me they are getting 3 in at first. No preorders. It will be first come first serve once they are on the lot. I thought that was a bit odd but meh. The thing that surprised me was that all three are double cabs. No crew maxes for them yet apparently. The guy seemed a bit bummed about it.

I think clever move. They can't legally allow to be on during low beam, but they know the aftermarket will unlock it.

There are a few 22's on Autotrader. Mostly SR5s.
Will be interesting when people start reviewing them in the real world.
Toyota needs to launch the configurator yesterday.

That's exactly how I wired mine in. You really should only have it on with the high beams. If you have light bar on then I would assume you want the maximum amount of light so why wouldn't you want the high beams on?

Probably going to get there later than sooner read several articles where Ford dropped the EV development for now for thier F250 and up trucks. I am not going to be home for a few days and I hate searching for articles on my phone. Google Ford Drops EV for Super Duty. For someone like me that tows long distance an EV is out of the question for me anyway.

For the record, gas stations can and do make a fortune on fuel. I did taxes for a dozens of them.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Is that few cents a gallon after they pay the employees? Electricity? Pump and tank maintenance? Property taxes? The owner's salary? The owner's company car? The note on the entire shebang? Since gasoline is the primary thing sold at a gasoline station, every one of those things could be paid for and the few cents a gallon is pure profit. Or maybe the spinning hotdog machine with the heat lamp and the condom dispenser in the rest room are paying some of those expenses?

Nobody but the accountant and the owner know for sure. If gas stations in total weren't profitable, there wouldn't be mega corporations trying to take them all over. Car dealers love claiming they make the least amount of profit selling new cars but that is complete BS since they conveniently forget to figure in the monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual sales bonus money.

This is one of those truths that we really don't need to know. Just know they make enough to be there to sell us gas.

Bullshit. Worked at a nation wide chain and saw the books on the fuel. Average profit per gallon was 3.5 cents and the highest it hit in a 4 year stretch was around 4.8 cents per gallon. The margin is slim. If you could make a fortune on fuel alone, why would you have cashiers and stores to have to deal with the asshats of the public? Just pay at the pump fuel stations would be the way to go for easy money. How many of those are there out there? Very few. And why would that be? Oh yeah! Because you don't make jack for profit on fuel alone.

Because a lot of people stop at a gas station for more then fuel. Without the store you lose fuel customers.

First, we need to define profit per gallon of gas. Is this profit simply after they paid for the fuel themselves, and they need to use it to pay other operating expenses? Or is it the portion of net profits that are left after they've paid all their operating expenses (utilities, lease(s), payroll, taxes, any other debt, etc)?

Gas tanks range from 12 gal to 38 gal at least...suppose the average tank size is 20 gal. If the gas station's profit per tank of gas is $0.05, then the average fill-up nets the gas station:

    $0.05*20 = $1.

Say there are, on average, 300 fill-ups per day. That's 12.5 per hour; I'm sure peak times are busier than that, and non-peak times are slower. Anyway, we get

300*0.80 = $300. (Note: how many people walk in throughout the day and spend $7 on a snack and a drink, which have drastically higher markups than a tank of fuel?)

Gas stations usually *never* close, so in this case, yearly fuel profit could be estimated to be

    $300*365 = $109,500.

This is all speculative, and I'm sure there are factors I haven't considered, but it really doesn't seem to be "raking it in" to me. I'm sure some of the larger places, especially travel centers off the highway, are busier than that and make more on fuel, but their operating expenses are also much higher, which–depending on how this profit is defined–may be a significant factor. But, unless I'm WAY off, I don't see how this could be considered even a significant portion of their profit margin.

You're correct. Only the large volume gas stations are making some money. For the small operations the C store is the money maker.

Opportunity came up, and I got an allocation for a 2022 Raptor, so no new tundra for me.

At the end of the day, looking at the specs on the tundra, I was just so eh about it.

Nope. If I was towing anything I'd get a 3/4 ton, not some 5 link 1/2 ton lol.

I'll be fine towing my Rzr though.

Good luck to you! The Raptor is honestly the only domestic 1/5 ton I'd consider.

I kind of agree with his inference to be honest due to how the payload ratings of half tons are. For example I consider my Camaro on a flatbed a small trailer so it depends on what your definition of small trailer is. When we take our Camaro places with me my wife and 1 or 2 other people, tools in case we get a flat and spare tire for the Camaro, misc stuff plus tongue weight I have very very little if any wiggle room left on our long towing trips. I am selling my Tundra soon to a family member since we have access to a Ram 2500 6.4L that I can use for a while from a good family friend we have known for the years and the money we gain from selling it will help for medical reasons. Gives us 1400-1500 more pounds of wiggle room and all I have to do is help with maintenance.

One also has to consider how often you tow, how far, and the terrain. Given the length of my boat and weight, he would probably say I need a 3/4 ton. Yet dig deeper and you will realize I never pull it farther than 10 miles (for winter storage) and when I drop it in for the season, the ramp is around the corner.
