Update>>>> Saw my urologist face to face finally. My PSA went up 0.2. Now 0.8. The plan is now to wait and see if it hits 2.0. Insurance won't authorize the Acumen PET scan until then. I thought it was until I hit 1.0
In the meantime I have to uptake my vitamin D to 4000 units per day for the time being. WTF? He went over all the different scenarios how this can play out depending when the PET scan happens. A wait and see. Not overly concerned yet. We are watching the rising PSA rate closely. A lot depends on this and will determine what happens.....no worries

So it was in for 14 days, I was terrified for them to remove it but it really was a non issue. Not a big deal to remove it. I have never pee'd so good in my whole life.
I had a lot of scar tissue, probably from too many BMX and motorcycle wreaks when I was young.

Matt - You're handling this very well and it is great to vocalize the importance of taking action to get checked. You might have saved someone's life. Best wishes to you and I pray that the worst is over.

Patience is a virtue. It is what it is. My doc is pretty good. Of course I want a good outcome from this "situation"

Hi all... rather new here to this site. (and this Thread... just seen it now)

I had my Prostrate removed in March 2017. Guessing by reading the threads above i am not different than anyone else. This sucks the big one... the whole way around, left / right or up / down.

BUT... after learning how to pee again (without going in my pants!) I am very fortunate to have my wife and backing from a lot of very good friends....and doing very well at the moment... Big key here. Get out with it and talk about it with everyone in your circles. This will help some of the younger guys face the facts and be more comfortable with getting tested before it is to late. I wish my dad was here to add to this ...he passed away because of prostrate cancer. He WAS the BIG TOUGH GUY!.

For you big tough guys out there...this is nothing to play around with... Trust me. It will beat you if you don't deal with it right away. No second chances here. Some very easy simple tests will keep you alive. ( ALIVE!!! just think about it.)

    Jeff R.

I had my prostate removed in 2018 followed up with radiation treatments 8 months later because they found some cancer cells outside the prostate. PSA has been >0.001 since then. Anyways, I have a close circle of friends I have known for 30+ years. 3 of the guys still refuse to have a digital rect...well, you know. They say "No way a doc is sticking his finger up there." Mind numbing to me. Hang in there Matt and all others dealing with this. We'll get through it. Keep up with the positive atitude and enjoy life to the fullest.

Got my latest bloodwork Thursday morning and had my TeleHealth Zoom meeting with my doc at 1:30 that afternoon. My PSA went up to 1.3. Not a bad thing because now my insurance will authorize the very expensive Acumen PET Scan. My Vitamin D levels literally fell off the plank so I was "prescribed" a scrip to take 1 VD (no not that kind of VD......) pill once a week for the next 8 weeks. Each pill is 50,000 units...:eek2: I need the scan this week or the week after next because the week of the 19th I will be in wonderful Boulder that whole week for a critical military defense contractor onsite and have to drive my Venom up there each day. Good thing I have no anti hippie stickers on my truck. In all seriousness the Acumen PET Scan should finally determine where my cancer has popped up so it can be treated......whatever that might entail.......

I'm a big believer in the power of having a positive attitude. Some things are out of our control, but we still have a say in the way we fight things.

Good to hear they will do the PET scan. Insurance coverage seems to be more questionable these last couple years. I hope all goes well.

Thanks! It's simply a matter of pinpointing the location of where the cancer is and attacking it.

I got my 2nd shot about 3 weeks ago. I need to get that PET scan to get a better idea on what's going on. The CAT and bone scans I had came up negative. Weird.

Welp, just found out that the Acumen PET scan was denied again. Even though my PSA climbed 0.5 in 2 months and hit 1.3 it was denied again because my last Cat and Bone scans came back negative. WTF? Back to the drawing board......fun times indeed!

Good for you, keep us updated, the whole procedure really is nothing, prep being the worse part, get some wet wipes, you will need em before the prep is over.
