Just installed this yesterday on my 2017 5.7L...installation was easy and along with a better sound I got better throttle response and an immediate 3mpg increase on city driving, haven't tried hwy yet but will update.IMG_0877.jpgIMG_0878.jpg

Now you have a hot air intake. HAI
3mpg increase? No offense but I seriously doubt it. The stock intake is cold air already. I personally would've done the trd intake or the SABM or both. The K&N looks cool though. But as long as you're happy its all good. I hope you're getting all perks that they claim. Cheers!

Report back after a couple gas tanks and Hand and calculated. Don't go by the dash readout.

this is always my argument with these waist of money intakes. sucking hot air from under the hood. at least that one doesn't have the metal tubing going to intake. that metal gets crazy hot compared to the plastic/rubber stock intakes

How many mikes were previously driven on the new truck before adding the intake? Has there been enough mileage to get a true baseline for a true and accurate comparison?

In any case, as long as the intake makes you happy, cheers!

I will but I was using the dash readout so I will do as suggested by another member and hand calculate for at least a couple of tanks

I put in the drop in K and N filter in my stock air box and got 3 mpg increase and only paid $40 or $50 dollars.

No way this is correct. Your stock air filter and air box can supply your engine with more air than it will ever need. Only way this is true is your old filter was packed with mud

I don't remember which thread it was but if everyone says these air systems don't work, why would Toyota make an after market one as well?? I've read that all the comalnys say it increase horse power 8-15 HP and also get an additional 1-3 mpg for tanks... I mean does anyone's here's actually say they work, or a waste,of,$$$

Honestly who gives a s*** about horsepower? When was the last time you were wrapping out your engine to redline driving around town? I'm guessing never so you'll never see the horsepower unless you're literally driving the red line everywhere you go ...its a waste of money

On the other hand I've heard of people complaining about a loss of low-end torque going to an aftermarket intake. Its a truck use it as a truck keep the torque. Do torque modifications don't look for the horsepower you're never going to use...IMO

Everybody wants more h/p cmon bro.. if it comes at a small price.. we all know tundras are gas guzzlers too, which didn't bother me when I bought it.. but if you could spend $200-$300 and improve both of those.. who wouldn't want that..

The TRD aftermarket intake is for the SC, comes standard with the kit (not sure about now). With the increase flow of the SC, I would agree to getting a CAI.

A lot of guys got wrapped up in this with the diesel world. They would bolt on 5-6" exhaust and wonder why the performance dropped.

Little did they know, a factory intake could support 475 hp and a 4" exhaust can support about the same...maybe a little more.

Me (response to who doesn't want more HP) guess I'm just different. I could give a damn less about what happens top end. I never see above 3.5k driving. I bought a truck to how/haul and perform like a truck. The only thing I want is low/mid torque.

Your also talking a generalization, not everyone sees "2-3" mpg increase. Plenty of people actually see a decrease in mileage.

Plus how many people have actually conducted their own actual tests proving any power benefit from an aftermarket hot air intake? Everything power wise that I see is MFG (obviously they will show a benefit, they are in sales)...I personally dont believe peoples asses are calibrated enough to feel 15hp.

Low/Mid torque is where it's at. The TRD CAI would be a nice upgrade over the stock one because of increased air flow. Don't expect any miracles though.

Most do. A lot of folks like the sound. Not much HP gain unless you drive at 4500 rpm everywhere.
